Creative Director, Product Design (Open to Remote)

Penguin Random House is looking for an experienced and motivated Product Designer, with professional experience with product branding and concentration in UX and digital interaction design, to join our highly collaborative Corporate Design team.  

Our team of designers is working to reimagine and build several customer applications , digital products and services , and a variety of internal tools used throughout the publishing company.  Our responsibilit ies include work on brand ing and ad-promo.
Our audiences span from our
own employees , our authors, clients, and retail customers . O ur areas of competence range from B2B to brand communication.

You will be responsible for directing this interdisciplinary team
of UX/UI and marketing designers , understand ing business strategies and user needs, and translat ing these into design solutions.

Key Responsibilities: 
• Lead, m otivate and inspire your team, and advocate for users.
• Build on competence and reputation of the team to create the best product design team in the industry.
• Identify design problems and devise elegant solutions with your team , translating analysis into concepts, and concepts into intuitive user experiences.
• Conceive and direct visual communication and brand projects.
• Supervise the ad-promo team's work and articulate long- term design strategies .
• Direct and conduct r esearch and user analysis through audits, surveys, user interviews, and us ability testing . Clearly document and p resent research findings and designs to working teams and stakeholders, advocating for user needs.
• Translate findings into information architecture models, user stories , and user flows.
• Direct the design
of wireframes and prototypes with accessibility in mind . 
• Collaborate directly with project team members : creatives, business stakeholders , developers, and project managers.
• Rapidly test and iterate on in-progress designs.  
• Supervise the creation of technical documentation that articulates functionality to developers.
• Support continuous improvement of UX strategies, tools, documentation, and processes. 
• Take smart risks and champion new ideas.

• 7+ years of product design experience in an agency or similar .
• Experience in designing solutions for complex and content-rich digital products and services. 
• Experience with managing a creative team.
• Experience with design of consumer brand products and campaigns.
• Strong interest in all things UX and other areas of visual and service design, knowledge
of the  latest trends and technologies, and a willingness to learn new skills and workflows. 
• A solid grasp of user testing methodologies and usability standards. 
• Experience with working directly with clients, auditing and analyzing requirements. 
• Experience with working directly with software developers and engineers.
• Experience with Agile methodology and project management software .
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. 
• Strong collaboration and communication skills (written & verbal) as well a s an ability to work independently . Openness to feedback and constructive criticism.
• Experience with design software such as Figma (used by team) , Adobe Creative Suite, etc. 
• Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and WordPress will be considered a plus. 

The salary range for this position is $150,000 - $160,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
