Job Description

Penguin Random House's corporate consumer marketing team is looking for an enthusiastic Associate Product Manager to join our growing product team. In this position, you will serve as the right hand to the Product Owner of ReadBrightly.com, our consumer-facing website focused on cultivating a love of books and reading in children.

This role will work closely with a cross-functional team that includes design, engineering, data, editorial, marketing, and analytics. This person will manage the roadmap and day-to-day operations of the website, including researching, scoping, testing, launching, and assessing new features and functionalities that meet our consumer's needs and business goals.

This is an exciting opportunity for a junior Product Manager to stretch; or someone in a PM-adjacent field with relevant skills to transition to product work.

Who You Are:

You are a detail-oriented product manager, or have worked in close collaboration with a product manager as a product marketer, business analyst, or engineering and are looking to transition into your first product role. You have a solid foundation in user experience and are passionate about understanding and empathizing with the end users of your product. You are an excellent communicator and a self-motivated person with proven success at execution. You love prioritizing work and thinking strategically to solve problems and build consensus among stakeholders.

Responsibilities Include:
• Work closely with the Product Owner and stakeholders to research and scope incremental enhancements to the website that touch upon backend/workflow improvements as well as consumer-facing changes to site design and templates -- or new features entirely
-- that help drive our business goals and meet real user needs
• Collaborate with developers, designers/UX leads, and QA analysts on our team to bring these ideas to life through iterative design and development cycles to meet business goals
• Participate in ongoing user research, A/B testing and usability testing to further improve the platform
• Leverage data and analytics to identify opportunities for improvement or further investment in the platform
• Manage and groom the product backlog
• Collaborate in a hands-on way with other product managers on the team who support a growing portfolio of consumer-facing web applications and other digital products
• Participate in all agile rituals as part of our sprint cycles

Requirements:
• 1-2 years experience as a product manager building consumer-facing products successfully from ideation to launch
• Facility with Basecamp, JIRA, Google Docs, Excel, Powerpoint, Word and other software/programs that would be conducive to documentation
• Facility with Adobe Analytics, or experience with analyzing and reporting data and tailoring it to different audiences
• Experience with various user testing methods (surveys, usability testing, user interviews, etc.) and collaborating with design to create prototypes that meet testing goals
• Experience with QA test scripts or working closely with a QA analyst
• Exceptional time-management and personal organization skills
• Proactive communicator with superlative written and verbal communication
• Ability to demonstrate flexibility in a fast-paced, changing development environment
• Experience working in marketing organizations or in publishing is not mandatory -- but is a nice bonus
