Associate Manager/Manager, Marketing - Putnam (Open to Remote)

Putnam is seeking an Associate Marketing Manager/Marketing Manager to join their team in developing and executing marketing campaigns for a list of award-winning and bestselling books.

The Associate Manager/Manager will work closely with authors and their agents, as well as cross-functionally with Putnam's editors, publicists, sales team, advertising, and creative services colleagues to oversee marketing campaigns and initiatives for hardcover and paperback titles across a wide variety of categories. They will report to the Associate Director of Marketing. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced marketer to join a collaborative, creative, industry-leading team!

The ideal candidate will have experience planning and executing book marketing campaigns from start to finish. We are looking for candidates who have an eye for detail and a proven track-record of using data-driven insights to inform their marketing strategies. Candidates should have excellent communication skills and be comfortable presenting their work in meetings. They should enjoy taking ownership of individual campaigns while juggling multiple projects simultaneously, as well as the ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment. This position will be responsible for managing and expanding Putnam's Influencer program, so the ideal candidate will have a keen interest in and knowledge of organic social media and experience in working with influencers across multiple channels.

The Associate Manager/Manager:
• Develops, strategizes, and implements marketing campaigns for a variety of titles, while utilizing the insights and analytics available to inform their strategy
• Collaborates closely with editorial, publicity, sales, and creative marketing services, as well as with authors and agents, to communicate, refine, and execute marketing plans
• Manages Putnam's influencer marketing program, liaising with influencers on specific titles, networking with up-and-coming accounts to keep outreach fresh and targeted, and strategically expanding the program
• Works with authors to maximize campaign effectiveness, including helping authors to grow their social media platforms, brainstorming, and pitching potential partnerships, and more
• Collaborates closely with other members of the marketing department to share ideas, brainstorm, and develop new marketing tools and strategies, as well as contributing to seasonal and group campaigns, and growth projects
• Effectively analyzes sales patterns and other key marketing metrics to inform their plans and promotions
• Continually researches and explores new marketing tools, platforms and strategies

Minimum Requirements:
• Minimum of 2 years of prior book marketing experience to be considered at the Associate Manager level; minimum of 4 years' experience to be considered at the Manager level
• Experience creating and executing campaigns for a variety of titles
• Excellent verbal and written communication and copywriting skills
• Fluency in key marketing strategies and tools including email, organic and paid social media, and search
• Interest in, and knowledge of, the current social media landscape, and prior experience working with influencers across multiple social media platforms
• Experience and comfort presenting in both internal and external meetings
• Experience analyzing sales patterns and other key marketing metrics
• The ability to meet deadlines, multitask, and prioritize effectively
• The ability to work as part of a collaborative team, while also having the autonomy to craft and implement plans for your titles
• Basic design skills/some Photoshop and/or Canva experience

The salary for the Associate Manager level is $63,000 and the salary for the Manager level is $70,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
