Status: Full-Time, Fixed Term, Grant (this position is fully funded through December 31st, 2024)

Supervisor: Senior Program Manager, Immersive Learning

Position Overview:

The Station Strategy and Development department is looking to hire a Program and Event Manager, Immersive Learning. The person in this role is tasked with overseeing Immersive Learning program and event coordination for the Data Literacy Program, as well as assisting with additional program/event management across all Immersive Learning experiences. This will include overseeing internal/external communication and marketing, and overall management of said events related to Data Literacy and additional programs such as: year-long experiences, monthly experiences, and in-person/virtual/hybrid events (workshops/conference). PBS's Immersive Learning team offers Professional Development opportunities, including the YoPro Initiative and Executive Leadership Program to PBS member station staff to develop the PBS workforce, prepare staff for future growth opportunities, and expand station capabilities across all functional areas.

The Data Literacy Program is a professional development program for PBS member stations designed to enhance personal knowledge in, and improve station execution of, data-informed strategies and tactics that lead to multiplatform success at the local level.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Support planning and coordination of the Data Literacy Program activities and curriculum alongside Immersive Learning and Business Intelligence teams

• Coordinate and manage workforce development program components with a focus on in-person/virtual/hybrid events and workshops.

• Schedule and organize planning meetings/events and maintain agendas

• Oversee scheduling for presenters/events, communications, and marketing for program events

• Assist with planning conferences and larger system-wide events

• Provide regular project updates for Business Intelligence, Station Services and Immersive Learning staff

• Keep accurate record of activities and assist in developing reports for grant purposes

• Promote an environment of collaboration and inclusion, ensuring programs and projects are represented by a diverse group of voices

• Represent PBS Station Services at system meetings and conferences as assigned

• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements for success:
• Bachelor's degree in communications, new media, or business administration preferred. An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.

• 2-4 years of experience in project/event management

• Proven experience as program coordinator or relevant position

• Knowledge of contracts, budgeting, bookkeeping and reporting

• Excellent time-management and organizational skills

• Detail-oriented and efficient

• Knowledge of PBS and public television preferred

• Ability to interact with all levels of multi-faceted, fast paced corporation

• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including a command of grammar

• Excellent phone manner / customer service skills

• Superior organizational skills and attention to detail

• Resourceful, self-directed, and flexible team player

• Strong skills in typing/word processing, graphic design, spreadsheets, electronic communications systems, using the Internet, Outlook, and Microsoft Office

• Must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccination by date of hire to be considered. Proof of vaccination required
