SUPERVISOR: Senior Director, Applications & Systems Integration
The Applications & Systems Integration team creates solutions that integrate systems, data, and APIs to support process automation and workflow orchestration within PBS' media supply chain. These solutions encompass multiple product lines spanning both on-premises and cloud-based systems in support of the PBS mission.
The Director, Applications & Systems Integration is responsible for managing a team of highly skilled engineering and product development resources within the software/product development lifecycle. They provide technical leadership, vision, direction, and mentoring for the team and ensure alignment with strategic goals. They lead an agile, fast-paced, and growing department. They are responsible for activities that contribute to planning, creating, and executing PBS' vision and strategy and oversee the identification, prioritization, and delivery of work activities. They are responsible for the oversight, performance evaluation and management of staff and contractors. They are a self-starter that constantly searches for ways to improve the department and the business.
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Collaborate with business partners to understand needs and priorities and integrates critical business information into technology solutions
• Directs the development and implementation of software/product development and integration plans and projects to support business strategy
• Contributes to business and technology planning and development/management of IT budgets
• Directs the development and implementation of tools and technologies that make it easier to do work, and increase effectiveness and ensures implemented services, products and solutions are consistent with strategic architecture
• Works with teams and external service providers to establish SLAs that support business objectives; Measures service performance against SLAs and recommends/implements improvements
• Provide assessment and recommendations throughout vendor evaluation, negotiation, and contract development processes
• Responsible for interviewing/hiring, motivating, training, coaching, and performance management (including documenting, evaluating, and delivering employee performance assessments, performance management plans, and employee discipline), for a team of high performing professionals
• Responsible for managing service demand for areas of responsibility and identifying/addressing new skill requirements for existing workforce and identifying additional skill/staffing needs for extended workforce (contractor/professional services)
• Develops and executes change management plans – executing appropriate communication, process, and educational plans for mitigating the disruption of change
Requirements for success:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
• Minimum 10 years of experience with the full systems lifecycle for software development, system integration, process automation and workflow orchestration
• Minimum 3 years of leadership experience
Technical skills and abilities:
• Understanding of software engineering best practices for the full SDLC including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, CI/CD, testing, and operations
• Understanding, identifying, and assessing new technologies, and their potential applicability to business needs
• Understanding of enterprise, solution and application architecture patterns and practices
• Experience with Agile software development methodologies and ceremonies and experience leading teams working in an Agile Scrum environment
• Experience with application development tools and technologies including Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Microservices, REST APIs, Relational and NoSQL databases, Git/Github, etc.
• Experience developing and integrating microservices utilizing Java and Spring Boot and container-based technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
• Experience with public cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure) and designing cloud native solutions
• Ability to leverage a range of Agile development, technical, business domain, leadership/people management, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills in the execution of his/her duties and responsibilities
• Ability to effectively respond to questions and issues – i.e., effective in communicating complex concepts to diverse audiences at all levels in the organization
