Technical Engineer (IT broadcast)
Job Description:
Support Technical Engineer is to provide high level of support to technology matters, primarily in the newsroom or production environment, but will assist with events as needed!
This position is responsible for hardware and software support for important computers and technical systems, required for the broadcast of live and pre-taped shows. The position requires a validated Technical IT background to support on-air operations of server-based digital video and audio control systems, graphics and non-linear editing systems, automation systems and their associated software and hardware infrastructure!
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Support for Newsrooms, Control Rooms, Studios and Editors.
• Point of contact for location(s), its service(s) and its process(es).
• Provide recommendations based on requests and requirements from business and tech groups.
• Run numerous applications relating to - news production, communication, storage, content editing, and financials within the (Microsoft and Apple ecosystems).
• Support existing Active Directory.
• Management of data on shared storage.
• Install and configure Windows servers and PCs with extensive knowledge of Microsoft Operating systems.
• Broadcast IT Functions (Air Control, Transmission and Media Distribution operations)
• Implement and maintain SAN systems.
• Support Office 365 products – configure, setup and support.
• A/V Setup and support, related to conference system.
Basic Qualifications:
• 3 years of IT broadcast (or Enterprise IT) related support.
• Experience with production systems – eg. AP ENPS, Avid iNews, Teleprompters.
• Must be available to work Holiday, weekends, early and late hours, potentially overnight and be able to lift 45 pounds of equipment, carry, unpack and set-up.
Additional Qualifications:
• Experience with Domain management (eg. GPOs, Accounts, OUs, Security Groups).
• Knowledge of network administration – routers/switches, subnetting, VLANs.
• previous practice working with and supporting clients and endpoints in a creative environment.
• Strong diagnosing skills.
• Good interpersonal skills with an ability to effectively guide, support, and bring up anomalies for all end-users in a live 24/7 facility Strong solving skills.
• Ability to detail processes and workflows.
• Availability to travel to various locations for domestic events with short notice.
• Ability to collaborate with other teams/ colleagues.
• Capable to work independently.
• Position should be able to - think quickly to get Broadcasts on air in a high stress live broadcast environment.
• BA in IT or Media related field, applicable industry certificates, or equivalent experience.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hiring Salary Range: $90,000.00 - 100,000.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
