Overview & Responsibilities

The Paramount Technology team is seeking a Senior Technical Engineer! The Senior Technical Engineer, Production Services position is primarily concerned with the installation, support and maintenance of production systems that provide CTD and CBSi day of air productions the ability to deliver their shows on schedule. These systems include Avid Interplay media asset management, Nexis shared storage, INEWS newsroom automation, Media Central, and post production systems as well as production systems including on-air graphics, teleprompter, transcoding farm, LiveU, SnapStream, Aspera, NL Tek.

This position may require working late or on the weekend to perform essential routine maintenance outside of broadcast hours.

This position also performs research and evaluation of new technologies that might benefit productions.

The employee works with the Director of Production Services and is dedicated to the production, but may be called on to assist with associated productions as needed. The employee takes daily direction from the Executive in Charge of the production and works together with the production staff and Corporate IT departments to use technology and include technology applications as an integral part of the total technology plan for the productions.

Responsibilities
• Ensure technical systems are in working order to ensure that the productions can deliver their product (show) on schedule
• Installation and ongoing support, maintenance of production and post-production systems for an on-air daily production including Avid Interplay and Avid Media Composer
• Maintain accurate records of physical and software assets
• Ability to prioritize tasks and be adaptable to demands from multiple users whilst ensuring the shows are delivered
• Ability to coordinate a hybrid Windows and Macintosh environment
• Source and purchase needed materials and/or equipment
• Routine help-desk duties as needed to fill voids

Basic Qualifications
• Avid ASCR certification or 5+years experience supporting an Avid based post production facility
• In depth understanding of interaction between all core systems essential to a post-production facility
• 5 years experience as a senior-level engineer/technician of IT systems involving TV broadcast media architecture

Additional Qualifications
• Comprehensive experience with all forms of broadcast systems
• Extensive experience with networking environments blending emerging wireless technologies, video broadcast systems, and post production digital asset management systems
• In depth knowledge of network servers from design to implementation and maintenance
• Deep knowledge of Microsoft Server and Desktop Operating Systems
• Extensive knowledge of Internetworking protocols, wired and wireless networking
• Knowledge of Macintosh systems, including but not limited to Print/Graphic workstations
• Ability to analyze project requirements, draft project plans, milestones and delivery schedules
• Ability to establish evaluation strategies and implement formative and summative activities
• Experienced knowledge of infrastructure requirements and components of local and wide area networks, Internet and intranets
• Up to date knowledge of Cisco Internetworking Operating System (CiscoIOS) for routers and switches
• Working knowledge of telecommunications systems and inter operation with Data Systems
• Understanding of security as it relates to data, infrastructure, and physical environment.
• Understanding of architectural drawings, electrical plans and facilities planning
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff
• Ability to build, or assist in the creation of policies as mandated for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $115,000.00 - 125,000.00. The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
