Senior Software Engineer, Web

Job Description

Are you an expert in web development technologies and methodologies! We are looking for someone who will join a fast-paced, cross-functional Agile team building highly optimized smart TV/set-top experiences! The position is responsible for the technical design, development, and implementation of high-quality solutions for high-traffic, consumer-facing CTV applications, and helping to develop the skills/knowledge of more junior members of the team.

Your day-to-day:
• Build fast, stable, testable, and reliable front-end and back-end solutions using modern JavaScript technologies that reach beyond the browser and into the living room.
• Collaborate with product managers and designers to build interactive features.
• Proactively improve the overall quality, performance, and stability of the codebase.
• Collaborate efficiently and respectfully with your team to make technology recommendations based on research and knowledge.
• Participate in Code Reviews where you will both give and receive feedback.
• Be part of support teams and perform root cause analysis of issues.
• Work with a group of developers of various experience levels.
• Mentor junior engineers and help new engineers onboard.

What you bring to the team:
• 5+ years of hands-on professional experience building and deploying web solutions.
• Understanding of Computer Science fundamentals, including algorithms, design patterns, and data structures.
• Knowledge and passion for client-side web technologies.
• Expert in JavaScript, preferably in a React context.
• Expert understanding of CSS, its best practices and performance tuning.
• Expertise building, deploying, and debugging Node.js applications.
• Expertise with Git, rebasing, branching strategies, and pull requests.

You might also have:
• Experience with Samsung, Tizen, Vizio, LG or other Smart TV development.
• Development experience with video playback, adaptive streaming, cross-device casting, or other related lean back experiences/technologies.
• Experience with unit testing methodologies, frameworks, and software/tools.
• Experience writing code using a functional programming approach.
• Experience writing Single Page and Universal JavaScript applications.
• Experience with working on a CI/CD workflow process.
• Familiar with Scrum and Kanban Agile software development methodologies.
• Experience with digital advertising platforms, web analytics integration.
• You participate and have had success in hackathons.
• You contribute to open source.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $125,000.00 - 165,000.00. The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
