Overview and Responsibilities

Do you love groundbreaking technology and innovation? Then our Manager, Media Technology role at ViacomCBS could be the role you have been waiting for! Our open position is responsible for building, testing, deploying, and maintaining operations services for a multimedia file processing team. We're looking for someone who will work closely with cross-team management staff to build solutions and improve workflows for the operations team. The position will be located at Paramount Studios in Hollywood, CA.

Responsibilities to include, but not limited to:
• Work in an Agile software development team to craft, code and test innovative multimedia processing applications
• Build everything from mockups and UI components to algorithms and data structures as you deliver a viable product
• Create new and maintain existing operations toolsets for production automation, primarily in Python and C#
• Change and improve existing builds based on product backlog
• Extensive beta testing of builds pre-deployment to ensure that all releases are to spec
• Attend retrospective meetings post-deployment to improve future development cycles
• Meet with team for daily standup
• Understanding of video formats and codecs, h264, h265, Avi, MPG-2
• Create and maintain SQL Databases for recording and archiving transactions and processes as well as access and filter data from them for user task monitoring via web-based dashboards.
• Access external API's and SDK's for authorization/metrics as needed
• Test and build automated tests for your code
• Document for developers as well as business users to help them understand your products
• Partner with media operations team for new operational needs and toolsets or improving existing ones
• Working with development team for automating workflows and adding workflow efficiencies
• Automate compliance checks against client specifications

Basic Qualifications
• Minimum 2 years' experience in Python and/or C#/.NET software development, ideally in film/television
• Knowledge of digital content creation workflows, processes, techniques, and distribution processes
• Motivated and Self-Starting: able to think critically about problems, decipher user preferences versus hard requirements, and optimally use online and onsite resources to find an appropriate solution with little intervention
• Ability to adapt and learn and an innate curiosity are must haves to be successful in this role
• Strong oral and written communication skills are required to effectively communicate with Company personnel and outside parties

Additional Qualifications
• B.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering or relative work experience
• Experience deploying asset processing automation
• Familiarity with the following video codecs: IMF, MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4, WM9, QuickTime, ProRes, H.264.
• Knowledge of audio codecs: WMA, AAC, MP3, MPEG, AC-3
• Understanding of uncompressed digital formats: AVI, YUV, TARGA, TIFF, BMP, WAV, AIF
• Familiarity with Xytech Medaia Pulse
• Proven success deploying any full stack user-facing service, ideally in asset processing/file management
• Experience providing user support post-release
• Understanding of APIs and SDK for process automation
• Extensive familiarity with Linux, Windows, and Macintosh
• Experience manipulating datasets in code with tools such as pandas and numpy
• Ability to translate business process needs into clear technical requirements
• Detail and Process oriented
• General understanding of Digital Workflows and related Media Management
• Experience with Visual Studio, SQL Server Management Studio, Git
• Certified Scrum Developer a plus
