Brand/Division Overview:
The Video Engineering team is responsible for supporting the video delivery and architecture of VOD and Live content streamed on Paramount+ and other Paramount brands. Our team is also responsible for running services responsible for ingesting content into video cms, encoding, packaging with DRM, delivery and content distribution of premium content to millions of users every day!
Role Details:
We are seeking a Senior Video Software Engineer who will help drive our system's evolution. This candidate will be an integral part of our Video Engineering team, working with other video tech engineers to craft and release products for various platforms like Desktop, OTT, Mobile. The candidate will also be responsible for doing minimal video quality check, building, deploying and handling video encoding/packaging applications in cloud (AWS/GCP).
Your Day-to-Day:
• You'll work with multiple engineers to build scalable platforms for supporting Video management and publishing systems.
• Help maintain, evolve and modernize our existing video encoding platforms.
• Advocate the pattern of reusability by crafting and publishing component libraries
• Actively influence future innovations by following the latest and most efficient software engineering technology trends
• Advocate culture of teamwork and partnerships between engineers
Key Projects:
• Responsible for Video Transcoding & Packaging
• Work with video engineers in team to modernize and optimize our cloud video encoding platform
• Building features and improving Static/Dynamic packaging solutions for Paramount+
• Work on integrating video encoding platforms with multi-DRM and right management systems
• Work with development teams on re-architecture/modernizing of existing systems into the cloud
Qualifications:
• 7+ years of experience as a Software Engineer
• 5+ years working with a programming languages such as Golang, C, C++
• 3+ years working in a Linux / Unix environment.
• 3+ years working with Cloud/SaaS services such as Amazon AWS and Google Cloud
• 2+ years working with video protocols such as RTP, RTMP, HLS, HDS, Smooth Streaming
• 2+ years working with modern video codecs like H264, HEVC, AAC-LC, AV1, VP9
• BS Degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience
Additional Qualifications:
Experience with PHP or Python
Experience with container technology and management such as Docker and Kubernetes
Experience with technical writing and design documentation
Master's Degree in Computer Science or a similar, related field
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hiring Salary Range: $125,000.00 - 170,000.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
