Description:

CBS Sports provides premium online and mobile content to the connected sports fan, including live and on-demand video, in-depth analysis, breaking news, and scores and statistics across high school, college, and professional sports. CBSSports.com is part of Paramount portfolio of multi-platform brands, which includes premier Fantasy offerings, high school sports leader MaxPreps, 247Sports, Scout and Paramount Advanced Media producing more than 130 official collegiate athletic sites.

Role Details:

We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer experienced in working with backend teams for video streaming workflows and toolsets. In this role, you will lead the architecture and development of various backend video streaming workflows and toolsets for key sporting events. You will join a team of engineers, product owners and producers passionate about delivering our fans the best sports experience possible.

Your Day-to-Day:
• Work with other engineers to maintain and evolve our video encoding platform.
• Plan, Design and Build out cloud-based microservices to support video processing workflows.
• Developing web applications, tools and processes used across CBS Sports Video Streaming products
• Evangelists of best practices and innovative technologies ensuring we remain relevant
• Participate in scrum ceremonies - daily stand-ups, grooming, sprint planning
• Practice DevOps, write good tests and deploy continuously to prod with monitoring

Key Projects:
• Collaborate with a live encoding teams to craft solutions for video streaming operations
• Automating live streaming events workflow
• Design and buildout web applications to help automate asset ingestion pipelines

Qualifications:

What you bring to the team:

You have –
• Bachelor's in CS or equivalent work experience
• Basic experience with AWS/Cloud Infrastructure
• Experience writing JavaScript (Node.js and React preferred)
• Ability to take end to end ownership and source feature requirements from internal clients
• Eager to learn and contribute to existing technology stacks and new products

You might also have –
• Ability to communicate with external clients
• Experience writing Python
• Basic understanding of video protocols like RTMP and HLS, and video encoding
• Experience with NGINX and serverless applications (API Gateway, Lambdas)
• On call experience using PagerDuty (or similar products)
