Senior Software Engineer - JS Player (Remote)
Overview and Responsibilities

The Video Technology Group (VTG) develops industry leading software and services to support all of our brands. We are responsible for the delivery and playback of premium content to millions of people every day. We set company-wide video standards and help internal business units integrate the video delivery stack into their specific online products. Additionally, the team serves as the company's information resource on current and future trends in digital video. Team Details

Avia JS is the core player stack implemented company wide on HTML5 platforms. It's written in typescript and applies streaming libraries such as HLS.js, Shaka and Dash.js. Avia JS supports Google and FreeWheel server and client side ad systems. Avia JS supports all platforms that support the HTML5 video element, MSE and EME. This includes connected TVs, set-top boxes and game consoles as well as traditional desktop and mobile devices.

Your Day-to-Day
• Supporting our customers with timely triage of incoming issues and feature requests.
• Interfacing with internal business units to help solve their streaming media initiatives.
• Testing and certifying new Set-Top boxes and Connect-TV platforms as Paramount expands.
• Diagnosing video playback issues in real time and providing solutions to our key business partners.

Required Qualifications
• 5+ years proven experience with TypeScript/JavaScript
• Familiarity with HTML5
element, its methods, properties and event structure.
• Familiarity with JavaScript libraries such as React.
• Ability to troubleshoot/debug/profile apps written in TypeScript/JavaScript using browser's Developer Tools and Charles Proxy.
• Ability to communicate well and have an interest in solving problems and learning complex subjects.

Additional Qualifications
• Familiarity with the streaming protocols HLS & MPEG-DASH.
• Experience with technical writing and design documentation
• Experience working with npm, git workflows and modern JavaScript build tools

This is a remote / telecommute position. San Francisco Based Office.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $135,000.00 - 160,000.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
