Manager, Software Engineering - Video Streaming (REMOTE)

Role Details:

Do you have a passion for sports? If so we are looking for an experienced engineering manager for our CBS Sports video streaming engineering team. You will be an integral part of streaming the biggest sporting events in the world. To be successful at this job, you need to bring a winning spirit, technical architecture skills, and excellent leadership skills.

Your-Day-to-Day:
• Direct a team of engineers passionate about CBS Sports and Paramount+ streaming infrastructure
• Lead and grow the video workflow orchestration and automation stack powering thousands of live events each year
• Support the launch, growth and support of several live, linear 24/7 networks
• Work with the backend API and client (OTT) teams to bring large video initiatives to the finish line
• Improve the streaming portfolio by piloting new streaming technologies and evaluating key vendors/partners
• Collaborate with key partners in the video streaming space across Paramount Global
• Work closely with the broadcast team and cloud operations team
• Support the operations team when streaming issues are advanced
• Implement engineering best-practices and provide architectural mentorship to the team
• Mentor developers by providing code reviews, writing well written documentation and organizing group learning sessions

Qualifications:

What you bring:
• Experience leading a small to medium sized engineering team
• Experience in architecting, developing and maintaining cloud-based live video workflows.
• Understanding of various multimedia transport protocols such as: RTP, RTMP, SRT, UDP, Zixi
• Working knowledge of AVC, HEVC, VP9, AV1, AAC video and audio codec standards
• Understanding of HLS/Dash and server-side ad stitching products
• Experience working with Cloud/SaaS services such as Amazon AWS, Google Cloud
• Familiarity with programming languages such as GoLang, Python, & NodeJS
• Strong experience with video broadcasting and streaming media standards
• Video troubleshooting experience
• Familiarity with Digital Rights Management Systems (DRM), including Playready, Widevine & FairPlay
• Strong problem-solving, leadership skills and attention to detail.
