OVERVIEW

Wait Wait… Don't Tell Me! is looking for a NPR Strategy Events Manager who can lead logistical and operational processes for the new ongoing annual tour event, Wait Wait Stand Up Tour. In addition, this person would also oversee the day-to-day operations and activities of our tapings in Chicago.
Our ideal candidate will be highly organized, customer-service oriented, have knowledge of the Member station network, and most importantly-a fan of the show. This is a role that solely manages all talent and contract management, sponsorship coordination, and will still provide room for growth as they help create this new venture outside of the radio show.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage all logistics for the new expanded annual tour event, Wait Wait Stand Up Tour (approx. 30 per year
• Plan and execute talent management: including onsite management (talent needs, etc.), travel coordination, talent rider fulfillment
• Coordinate local station promotional partnership: working with local station(s) for each show on guest receptions, ticket needs, marketing assets, etc.
• Create and execute production schedules for full tour and individual shows
• Contract management (venues, talent, stations, promoter, etc.)
• Coordinate onsite sponsor activations with NPM staff (when applicable)
• Work with promoter on tour routing, market research, station research, etc.
• Manage talent/vendor payments
• Other duties as assigned
• House coordination of Chicago tapings (approx. 32 per year)
• Overseeing ticketing for shows using various ticketing software (ShowClix, Eventbrite, Ticketmaster, etc).
• Processing and maintaining of ticketing guests list(s) and donation requests
• Coordination and oversight of merchandise set up and sales
• Coordinating volunteers (10-12 per show)
• Booking travel and accommodations for Chicago shows
• Liaison with NPR Presents team for increased visibility throughout the public media network
• Explore future business development opportunities and other revenue streams
• Assisting with bill payments for panelists, contributors, and vendors
• Performing various administrative tasks as needed in support of NPR Chicago office
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in work experience

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• 2-4 years of experience in a professional and/or theater setting
• Live event planning and production
• Experience managing a theater production or similar
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Customer Service Oriented – gains insights to internal and external customer needs to build and deliver solutions.
• Operates effectively under ambiguous circumstances; adapts approach to respond to different situations.
• Computer literacy (Mac preferred, although not required)
