NPR is seeking a Director of Foundation Relations who will oversee the strategy and activities of the NPR Foundation Board of Trustees and the active engagement of individual Board members. The Director will work in close collaboration with other leaders across NPR, leading the development and refinement of a comprehensive board strategy. This position will manage all aspects of communication, events, logistics and stewardship related to the Board of Trustees, including annual meetings, committee support, retreats, stewardship, acknowledgment, and strategy implementation. This position reports directly to the Head of Philanthropy Strategy of NPR.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support Trustee leadership in the annual and long-term strategy and planning for NPR Foundation Board.
• Work with fundraising teams to grow trustee fundraising.
• Facilitate high levels of engagement with Trustees with all areas of NPR.
• Manage all logistical aspects of Foundation board meetings and committee schedule including preparation of agendas and supporting materials, taking of minutes, briefing of staff and volunteers, and supervision of logistics, and follow-up.
• Oversee Trustee communication strategy to ensure tailored and regular updates. Ensure regular and meaningful communication with trustees.
• In partnership with fundraisers, assist in successful execution of all Trustee events.
• Act as trusted point of contact for Trustees, creating meaningful relationships, responding to needs and requests and ensuring a high-level of engagement and interest.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree

REQUIRED SKILLS
• 7 years of progressively responsible work experience in development and nonprofit organizations, including work with committees, board members and major donors.
• Proven track record cultivating and stewarding major donors; board management experience highly desirable.
• Must be able to forge strong relationships with board members, major donors and colleagues.
• Excellent project management, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Exceptional communications, writing and editing skills.
• Technological/computer experience including fundraising management software,
• Must be a self-motivated employee that is able to work independently and as part of a team, and maintain a positive attitude.
• Must demonstrate diplomatic skills, work well within diverse groups to achieve common goals, and relate well to a wide array of people
• Ability to travel to meetings and events and to meet with Legacy Society members and prospects.
• Must be able to work flexible hours – including some nights and weekends.
