Job Description
OVERVIEW

NPR Development is seeking a development writer to join our growing Donor Communications and Stewardship team. Managing a portfolio of projects, this person will write and produce materials that demonstrate the impact of NPR's work and mission, with a goal of driving donor engagement and supporting all stages of the donor lifecycle. The ideal candidate will be curious, creative and highly collaborative, with a strong foundation in fundraising communications best practices. Graphic design experience is preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Write compelling donor materials, including impact reports, stewardship pieces, newsletters, web content and other materials;
• Provide writing and editing support for the development division;
• Manage the production and distribution of digital donor communications, including newsletters, donor emails, and donor-specific online features for NPR's website;
• In collaboration with team members, maintain and curate a database of graphics and photographs for use in communications materials;
• Support division-wide knowledge management by organizing newsroom updates, program announcements, audience insights and other relevant data;
• Collaborate with colleagues across NPR, including other teams within Development, Marketing and Communications, our newsroom, among others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• 3 years of nonprofit development writing experience, proposal and grant writing experience preferred
• Exceptional writing, editing and communication skills
• Able to write for different audiences and platforms (print, web, social media)
• Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, inspiring language
• Highly organized with attentiveness to detail and strict adherence to deadlines
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and work under pressure
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a sense of humor

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Graphic design skills, including document layout and basic photo editing
• Experience developing infographics, data visualizations and short video
• Salesforce or equivalent database experience
• Experience with digital and email marketing and SEO (strong digital literacy a plus)

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in work experience preferred

WORK LOCATION
• Remote Permitted: This is a remote permitted role. This role is based out of our Washington, DC office but the employee may choose to work on a remote basis from a location that NPR approves.

JOB TYPE
• This is a full time, exempt position.

COMPENSATION

Salary Range: The US based anticipated salary range for this opportunity is $90,000 - $100,000 plus benefits. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum salaries NPR expects to provide for new hires for the position across all US locations.

Regular, full-time employees scheduled to work 30 hours or more per week are eligible to enroll in NPR's benefits options.
