The Cash Manager manages the treasury, banking, and investment operations for NPR.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for managing NPR’s cash, liquidity forecasting, and treasury operations while maintaining strong banking relationships and ensuring compliance to internal controls.

Executes cash, investment, and borrowing transactions as directed by the Assistant Treasurer or CFO. The Cash Manager supervises cash management operations including daily cash position and flow analysis, forecasting, and liquidity measurements. Prepares cash flow reports, develops short and long-term cash flow forecasts and projections along with key reporting metrics, risks, and assumptions. Completes all cash management set-up documentation.

Consistently monitors working capital balances to ensure adequate cash is available to fund the organization’s needs, works to maximize the amount of cash to be invested, and recommends transfers between banks and within accounts. Ability to assist in managing NPR’s liquidity including analyzing short-term borrowing opportunities, investing, and cash concentration.

Collaboratively works with bank staff to transfer funds, access the line-of-credit, and other accounts as directed by the Assistant Treasurer or CFO. Administers and maintains banking relationships, serves as the administrator on all banking technology (i.e. software and hardware), and oversees and recommends changes as needed to user access, services, and processes. Reviews and initiates wires and flows, reviews services and processes for controls and to help mitigate the risk of fraud. Evaluate and report on credit card use and processes. Acts as the department’s expert advisor on banking issues for other areas and provides training.

The Cash Manager manages the payment of capital calls, receipt of distributions, and tracking of private investments. Provide analyses and forecasting on private investments.

For the investment portfolios and donors’ gifts of securities, the Cash Manager monitors and reviews the holdings, and executes trades and transactions as directed. Across all portfolios, helps review and process manager set-up and monitoring documentation, analyze and pay fees, and develop reports as needed such as performance comparisons to the market indices.

Manages the monthly close and valuation process working closely with the banks, Accounting Department, and the Assistant Treasurer to meet targeted deadlines. Assists with audit as needed. Provides regular reporting and analysis on investments, the endowment, annual support, performance, reserves, and key statistics.

Has knowledge of credit rating agencies. Able to calculate financial ratios, analyze financial statements, and provide in-depth reporting and financial tracking. Assists with debt compliance requirements and reporting.

Develop and produce regular reporting and Board level reports (i.e. daily, monthly, quarterly, annual) as directed. Establish report automation when available.

For all treasury, banking, and investment operations, the Cash Manger will maintain documentation, ensures compliance to department policies and regulatory requirements, and help identify and resolve errors. Includes regularly downloading statements, reports, and saving them electronically.

The Cash Manager is responsible for maintaining strong, internal controls for the Treasury and Risk Management department, and the on-going development and improvement of cash management processes, automation, and controls. Responsible for tracking current services, and as necessary, developing request for proposals, and evaluating results. Remains up to date on related industry changes and trends, makes recommendations on improvements and to control costs, and performs other project assignments and financial reporting as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree. Certified Treasury Management (CTP) certificate preferred. Advanced degree or further education a plus.

REQUIRED SKILLS
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Five to eight years’ experience related to Finance with strong background in Treasury. Required knowledge of cash management, forecasting, controls, and banking.
• Ability to meet both daily and long-term deadlines. Effectively handle multiple assignments in a fast paced environment. The incumbent must be able to work extended hours during peak work periods.
• Excellent organizational, prioritization, and decision-making skills. Ability to perform research and make recommendations based on research.
• Able to produce Board level reports using Microsoft Office.
• Excellent computer skills and proficiency using a PC and Microsoft Office software required. Advanced Excel expertise is required.
• Must be very detail oriented with demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to interact and work with staff at all levels.
