Job Description
OVERVIEW

NPR seeks an attorney with 5-7 years of experience supporting corporate governance law and regulatory compliance. The lawyer who joins our team will help a mission-driven organization embrace business opportunities while managing risk and ensuring compliance with NPR's legal obligations. This attorney will be primarily responsible for NPR's FCC compliance and legal support for FCC policy advocacy. In addition, this attorney will support corporate governance. The role reports to the Associate General Counsel who leads the Governance & Regulatory team, and will work closely with senior staff who support the NPR Board of Directors and the NPR Foundation Board of Trustees, as well as operational leads in the areas of technology, and engineering.

The successful candidate's knowledge, skills and credentials will include:
• Counseling on corporate governance and drafting related documents.
• Fluency in FCC and FTC rules and regulation.
• practice before (or experience at) federal regulatory agencies, including experience with agency comments and administrative pleadings, proposed statutory language, and legislative report language.
• Work with engineers and other technical staff on FCC compliance and advocacy.
• Advising on regulations and best practices related to communications.
• Legal research and drafting internal memoranda.
• corporate governance experience such as drafting minutes, memoranda, resolutions, correspondence, policies and procedures, and reports for Board and Board committees, and other related documents.
• Proven ability to work under pressure, managing multiple projects and setting and adjusting priorities as needed, while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail.
• Bachelor's degree and J.D. from an accredited law school.
• 5-7 years of relevant experience in the subject areas listed above.
• Car membership in good standing in the District of Columbia, or eligibility to waive into the DC Bar.

Additional responsibilities may include:
• Broadcast and corporate sponsorship review.
• Supervision of outside counsel on corporate governance and administrative law matters related to FCC regulation.

WORK LOCATION:

This is a hybrid permitted role. The employee will be required to be onsite at our Washington, DC office at least 10 days a year. The employee must also reside in an NPR supported location based on the number of onsite days they choose.

The anticipated salary range for this opportunity is $133,000- $155,000.
