Job Description
The Master Control Operator is responsible for the overall on-air look of the television station through airing programming and scheduled station breaks.• Monitor the program streams of WIVT / WBGH and be responsible for meeting FCC guidelines of transmitter and EAS logs.
• Run playback server and alternate serving as technical director during the production of live and taped live events.
• Additional duties include: Editing non-linear, graphics creation, vacation/sick relief for Engineering and Creative Services/Production Department, posting stories to the station website and other duties as assigned.
• Reports directly to Chief Engineer and will assist across departments.
• The position is primarily scheduled for weekdays, must be available as needed in relief capacity with varying hours and position does include working holidays when there is a newscast.
• Requirements & Skills:
• Technical degree in Digital Electronics, Broadcasting, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
• Fluency in English
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Minimum two years' experience with digital electronics systems in a television broadcasting environment (More or less depending on market size)
• Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment.
• Strong PC/MS Office experience
• Experience with digital transmitters and other broadcast-related equipment
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
