Job Description

The Director coordinates the efforts of all technical operators during newscasts and other live and recorded productions. The Director is also responsible for the overall on-air look of the television station through airing programming and scheduled station breaks.

Execute daily activities of broadcast operations unit, with a focus on Live News Production. Follow station policies and procedures in operating a wide variety of broadcast audio and video equipment: record, segment, trim and playout programming, mix audio, video, graphics and execute newscasts.

Must be able to work effectively with others in a team environment,

managing multiple tasks on strict deadlines.

Job Duties:
• Updates and maintains signal control systems
• Maintains programming logs as required by station management
• Segments content and clips to the server and then trims and modifies it
• Monitors strength, clarity and reliability of incoming and outgoing signals and adjusts equipment as necessary to maintain quality broadcasts
• Selects sources from which programming will be received, or through which programming will be transmitted
• Reports equipment problems and ensures that repairs are made and makes emergency repairs to equipment when necessary and possible
• Ensures the station's compliance with Emergency Alert System requirements
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements & Skills:
• Technical degree in Digital Electronics, Broadcasting, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Minimum three years' experience with digital electronics systems in a television broadcasting environment (More or less depending on market size)
• Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment.
• Strong PC/MS Office experience
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Experience:

Recent Studio Production and Master Control Operator Experience – Crispin and Ross preferred. Experience with standard computer programs and broadcast equipment: servers, video switchers, audio mixers, and graphics equipment including Chyron and Photoshop.

Skill set must include recording, editing, and mixing.

Must be able to perform work accurately and thoroughly while communicating effectively with others.

Must demonstrate problem solving ability, work to find solutions and deal proactively with work related problems.

Candidates must be well organized and adaptable to tight schedules,

work well under pressure, complete assigned tasks under stressful situations and possess excellent people skills.
