Job Description
The Creative Services Director at WOOD TV8 is responsible for developing and leading the overall marketing strategy and vision of a dynamic four-station media group, driving brand innovation and creative marketing strategies across linear, digital, and OTT platforms. The CSD is a collaborative leader who can work across all departments to engage and grow audiences. This position requires a visionary thinker with exceptional problem-solving abilities and analytical skills who is able to manage multiple projects while leading a first-in-class creative team in a fast-paced environment.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
• Provides leadership for the promotions team, art staff, lifestyle team, and commercial production staff.
• Oversees decisions related to hiring, performance evaluation, promotions and terminations.
• Develops and executes big picture marketing strategies to enhance station(s) competitiveness.
• Manages recruitment and development of talented team members.
• Prepares budgets and approves budget expenditures.
• Plans and directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations.
• Creates and reviews operational records and reports to assess the effectiveness of promotions and campaigns.
• Oversees media planning, direct media buying, tracking and reporting.
• Manages multi-network co-op planning, execution and reporting.
• Provides oversight of lifestyle shows: eightWest & Maranda Where You Live.
• Manages & executes media partnerships.
• Partners with the Programming and Sales teams to develop revenue-generating campaigns that can be sponsored across all station platforms.
• Responsible for managing station community/promotional events to enhance the station brand.
• Plans, executes and tracks revenue-generating marketing contests across on-air, online and on-site platforms.
• Oversees network and corporate marketing initiatives at the local level to ensure timely and accurate execution in the DMA.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Mass Communications, Broadcasting Journalism, or a related field - or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
• Fluency in English.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Minimum of five years' experience in media promotions.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Proven experience guiding, directing and motivating team members, including setting and monitoring performance standards.
• Experience establishing long-range objectives and in developing strategies and actions to achieve them.
• An ability to identify the developmental needs of team members and to provide coaching, mentoring, or training to improve their knowledge and skills.
• Proficiency with standard office equipment, including computers, phones, copiers, scanners, fax machines.
