Systems Specialist, NewsNation

NewsNation is looking for an experienced Systems Specialist for our national newscasts, based in our Chicago headquarters.

NewsNation is a national news cable network currently reaching approximately 75 million television households across the United States. The network is owned and operated by Nexstar Media Group (NXST).

Job Responsibilities:
• Works closely with NewsNation Engineering management in installing, maintaining, and documenting core systems.
• Takes charge of implementing new technologies and technical infrastructure for the news operation.
• Assist in minimizing system and service interruptions by identifying continuous system health.
• Ability to build rapport with end-users and vendors to efficiently address issues.
• Experience with Network Administration, configuration, and data security.
• Manage and maintain News production systems, content storage, playout systems, graphics and editing systems.
• Working experience with audio and communications equipment, content acquisition systems and experience with Ross Production Equipment/Automation
• Most be detail oriented, with strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to handle multiple projects/issues simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Requirements & Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in information systems, or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
• Strong Information Technology background and networking skills required.
• IT certifications are a strong plus.
• Experience with AV switching, video encoding/decoding, file transcoding, and newsroom systems a plus.
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• All day parts (mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays) may be a part of the schedule with overtime as breaking news situations demand.
