JOB STATUS: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

The Associate, Media Relations position will serve a dual role for a 12-month period from February/March 2023 to February/March 2024. One aspect will be to coordinate credentials/logistics for all events as they relate to media services. This person will serve as the logistical liaison between team and all media attending Yankee Stadium events including (but not limited to) Yankees games, the Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl, other college football games, community relations events, concerts, and HOPE Week. Additionally (and equally), this position is expected to provide significant support for our baseball information efforts, including proofing/writing parts of game notes, postgame notes, preseason and postseason media guides and press releases.

This position requires regular attendance in-person at Yankee Stadium and involves a demanding, full-time work schedule. Applicants who are enrolled in school during the 12-month employment period will not be considered for the position.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Provide significant, daily contributions to baseball information efforts, including proofing/writing pregame notes, postgame notes, press releases, and preseason and postseason media guide.
• Produce and/or edit scorecards, rosters, seating charts and other press box materials for each home game.
• Aid departmental interns with daily game day tasks, included but not limited to, making copies, delivering materials to executives and handling microphones in press conferences.
• Assist in creating creation and distributing all media credentials (daily and full season) for all Yankee Stadium events, including (but not limited to) regular season and postseason baseball games, HOPE Week, football games, concerts, and community events.
• Occasional compilation of department clips packet.
• Will frequently be stationed at press gate for all games and events to distribute credentials and answer general media logistical questions.
• Write all press releases regarding credential information and other media services (off-season, spring training, regular season, and postseason).
• Liaise with MLB relating to the production of official's credentials, postseason logistics (credentials, seating, etc.), Commissioner's Guide information and other issues/planning.
• Work with Stadium Operations on media procedures and security needs for events.
• Handle television and radio broadcaster guest passes.
• Assist media members in purchasing game tickets and assist broadcasters with ticket requests.
• Handle and respond to phone calls from fans/media/alumni.
• Handle general office duties including birthday reminders, press release reminders, and miscellaneous tasks meant to aid departmental fluidity.
• Assist in all facets of HOPE Week (writing, editing, and drafting press releases; honoree selection, planning of events, work with players and field staff, coordination of media RSVPs, organization of gift bags, etc.)
• Responsible for media monitoring. Experience with Critical Mention a plus

Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor's Degree required, with a major/concentration in media relations or communications a plus.
• Prior demonstrated experience producing in-depth sports-information material (i.e. game notes, media guides, etc.) with a team in MLB, Minor League Baseball, the NFL, NBA, NHL or with a major college SID office is required. Minimum of two years prior experience strongly preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to handle multiple projects and communicate ideas in a dynamic organization
• Desire to work in a fast-paced environment with the willingness to work long, non-traditional hours on a regular basis
• Ability to think strategically while prioritizing to meet deadlines
• Explicit attention to detail; creativity and resourcefulness
• Fluency in Spanish is a plus
• Knowledge of social media communication fundamentals
• Knowledge of baseball, including terminology and rules. Knowledge of Yankees history a plus
• Proficiency in InDesign, Word, and Excel. Knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator a plus
• Proficiency using Baseball-Reference.com, Statspass, and the MLB Portal (or similar platforms).
