We strive to deliver a great Netflix viewing experience in over 190 countries so our customers can watch whatever, whenever, interruption free.

We are seeking a seasoned SRE Manager with extensive experience in building and leading a team that's focused on working to help us deploy, support, and evolve a highly reliable & available CDN platform. To achieve this you must have experience with designing, deploying, analyzing & managing large-scale distributed Internet systems.

About The Team

The Open Connect Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Platform team is responsible for our CDN Platform & infrastructure that's deployed in over 100 countries. The team collaborates with Netflix Engineering teams and external ISP partners, with focus on finding ways to continuously improve the design and operation of the Open Connect services. Our primary goals are to make them more scalable, reliable, efficient, and secure. We do this by instrumenting for observability that provides us the insights required for effective monitoring & remediation. The group is also responsible for automation, continuous deployment, enabling rapid software releases without service impact.

Responsibilities
• Applying your strong understanding of SRE principles and practices
• Lead, empower, and mentor a team of engineers by providing them with the appropriate context and continuous feedback
• Guide a team with a mix of systems & software engineering skills while executing on projects focused on scalability, reliability, and availability
• Collaborate closely within the broader Open Connect organization and form strong cross-functional partnerships (Network Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Development, et al)
• Establish a track record of resolving issues in a live production environment and implementing strategies to minimize them
• Consistently deliver timely execution on complex projects with excellent quality

Qualifications
• Proven experience building and leading high-performance SRE teams
• Proactive at giving and receiving feedback with a growth mindset, confident to initiate the hard conversations
• Ability to disambiguate, in a fast-paced environment, driving clear action plans for your team
• Experience working with a diverse group of cross functional peers - engineers, partner engagement managers, operations and business stakeholders, at varying technical levels, influencing and driving direction and decision making
• Strong understanding of Unix/Linux operating systems fundamentals
• Strong knowledge of networking technologies (routing, BGP, protocols)
• Proficient in a programming language such as Python or Go
• Experience designing, analyzing & operating distributed systems at scale
• Great written and verbal communication skills, adept at active listening
• Experience managing geographically distributed teams

We rely on market indicators to determine compensation and consider your specific job, skills, and experience to get it right. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary and will also be dependent on your location. The overall market range for roles in this area of Netflix is typically $100,000 - $600,000. This market range is based on total compensation (vs. only base salary), which is in line with our compensation philosophy.
