Site Reliability Engineer L4 / 5 - Live Streaming

About the role

In this role, you will apply your skills and talents to ensure the reliability of the global live-streaming operations for Netflix. As a Live streaming SRE, you will work closely with Engineering and Production to ensure a seamless live streaming experience for Netflix members around the globe.

You will lead innovation initiatives that help to redefine the Live streaming experience!

Responsibilities
• Coordinate real-time Operations for Live Streaming events, and drive critical and complex escalations in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
• Develop Live Operations documentation to establish a repeatable process for the technical execution of high-profile Live events
• Identify, prioritize, manage reliability risks, and drive enhancements in the end-to-end Live system in partnership with teams across Netflix Engineering and Production
• Collaborate with stakeholders across Netflix and with 3rd party production partners to drive Live event planning, testing, and execution
• Provide Live incident management response for large-scale and high-profile events

Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience as a Site Reliability Engineer or similar role
• 3+ years of experience with Live Video Streaming Systems including encoding, distribution, and playback
• Experience with distributed systems with microservice architecture
• Experience in a high-availability, large-scale production environment on AWS or another public cloud
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams
• Strong quantitative, analytical, problem-solving, debugging, and decision-making skills

Nice to haves
• Strong technical writing, documentation, and presentation skills
• Experience in risk management and/or analysis
• Development experience with Java, JavaScript/Node.js, Python, Go

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $100,000 - $720,000.
