Job Description
About Netflix:

The Team:

If you're a Netflix customer, you have benefited from the work of the Security Protocols Engineering team. We are responsible for securing the Netflix streaming client ecosystem, enabling you to enjoy Netflix on nearly every device, whether the Netflix app is built by teams at Netflix, integrated by a partner, or provided through a third-party platform. This is a deeply technical team, who draws from knowledge of networks, cryptography, operating systems, and software architecture.

The Security Protocols Engineering team designs and implements end-to-end, holistic security features for the Netflix app running on devices and browsers, including the security protocol that powers Netflix. Our team is highly cross functional, inside and outside of Netflix. We work with cloud engineering teams and client development teams. We also work with platforms such as Roku and Amazon that integrate our client. Security in the Freedom & Responsibility culture of Netflix means that much of our work is accomplished through influence, not mandates. A highly collaborative mindset is key.

We are part of the larger Device & Content Security organization, which collaborates with device partners and DRM to improve security across the industry. To learn more about Device & Content Security at Netflix, check out this episode of the WeAreNetflix podcast.

The Role:

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the team and help us drive security improvements across our ecosystem. You should understand how security protocols work and where the risks are, and are pragmatic about security and understand tradeoffs. Having a strong security background is critical to success in this role. You will contribute to the protocol that enables strong user and device authentication that supports the Netflix business.

Experience:
• Strong foundation in core security fundamentals and concepts (HTTPS, TLS, OAuth, etc.)
• Professional development experience using common programming languages (Java, C/C++)
• Strong experience in security analysis of solutions, in identifying vulnerabilities, and providing remediations
• Comfortable sharing constructive feedback regarding security matters to engineers and product designers
• Ability to explain complex security problems in simple terms

As our subscriber base grows and the company matures, we continue to face new and interesting challenges. We are far from having solved all of the hard problems! If you are intrigued, let's talk.
