Are you passionate about doing research on groundbreaking computer vision algorithms which impact how 220+ million members experience Netflix? We strive to delight our members worldwide with a diverse and engaging content catalog, meaningful personalized recommendations for content, and an optimized user interface. Helping our members understand if they'll enjoy a piece of content via personalized media assets including images, video trailers, synopses, and other metadata is a critical part of this mission.

The Creative Algorithm Engineering team, which is responsible for developing algorithms to assist and improve the creation of content and media assets at Netflix, is looking for an outstanding computer vision (CV) research scientist to research, design, and build models for that effort. In this role, you will develop CV and/or multi-modal algorithms to analyze and transform our raw media sources into a diverse set of assets such as artwork, video trailers, and metadata.

As a Research Scientist in the team, here are the types of things you would do:
• Conceptualizing, designing, implementing, and validating potential CV and ML algorithmic solutions for the creation and retrieval of video and artwork assets
• Work cross-functionally with engineers, scientists, creative producers, and product leaders across teams, to help define and prioritize problem requirements
• Running offline experiments and building A/B tests to evaluate the algorithms in the production systems, in collaboration with our partner teams
• Contribute to the design and improvement of our ML platform

What we are looking for
• 5+ years of research experience with a successful track record of delivering quality results and/or academic publications in top CV, CG, or ML venues
• Expertise designing and training novel deep learning (DL) architectures for CV with a broad understanding of DL methods and literature.
• Expertise in machine learning spanning supervised and unsupervised learning methods, and applying ML to real-world problems
• Strong mathematical skills with knowledge of statistical methods and optimization
• Experience with DL frameworks such as Tensorflow, Keras, or PyTorch
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or C++
• Great interpersonal skills
• MS (PhD preferred) in Computer Science or related field

Even better if you have experience with
• Video understanding, audio, or multi-modal algorithms
• Computer graphics, 3D vision, or adversarial training
• Recommendation Systems, Active Learning, or Reinforcement Learning
