We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Evidence Engineering team. This exciting opportunity places you at the forefront of delivering truly tailored entertainment experiences to millions of Netflix members globally. As a Senior leader within our backend product engineering group, you will drive the architecture and development of innovative, customized solutions that power personalized images, text, and other assets in the product experience. This team is vital in showcasing our vast content library across various product initiatives, such as Live, Games, and Ads, on all device platforms worldwide.
As a leader of leaders, you will guide three high-performing engineering teams, setting the technical direction and ensuring the successful delivery of complex projects that enhance the product experience for our members. You will collaborate with cross-functional leaders to align on strategy, promote innovation, and ensure the team's work achieves significant business impact. We are looking for a technically skilled leader who thrives in a collaborative and inclusive environment, and is enthusiastic about mentoring a diverse group of engineers and leaders, from experienced professionals to new hires. This Senior Engineering Manager will be responsible for four key areas:
People Leadership
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and engineering managers.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and high performance.
• Provide regular feedback, coaching, and career development support.
Technical Direction
• Set and communicate technical vision and strategy for the team.
• Oversee architectural decisions and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
• Drive adoption of best practices in software engineering, reliability, and scalability.
Project & Program Management
• Own delivery of key projects, ensuring timelines, quality, and stakeholder alignment.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and other engineering teams.
• Manage resources, budgets, and prioritization.
Stakeholder Engagement
• Act as a key point of contact for senior leadership, product partners, and other stakeholders.
• Present technical and business updates to executive audiences.
• Influence and drive consensus across diverse groups.
What you need to be successful:
• Successful track record leading and coaching direct line managers.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams, ideally in a high-scale, high-impact environment.
• Deep technical expertise in relevant domains (e.g., distributed systems, personalization).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Strategic thinking and problem-solving.
• Experience with scaling teams and systems and leading change management.
• Ideally, it would be great if you had experience working in a global, distributed environment and /or a track record of delivering complex, cross-functional projects for major consumer facing apps.
Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $548,000.00 - $899,000.00.
