The Role
About you
We are looking for an experienced professional to join the Partnerships division of our Ratings team. The Ratings Team is a center of excellence for maturity ratings and advisories, working closely with Product and Public Policy teams at Netflix as well as regulators to empower members with trustworthy ratings guidance to make informed entertainment choices. The work you do in this role will directly affect how our members decide what to watch.
In this role, you will be the primary Ratings contact for regulators in the United Kingdom, support our work with regulatory bodies throughout the EMEA region, lead global research and analysis initiatives for Netflix ratings, serve as the Ratings point of contact for sensitive promotional asset review, and support the development and execution of the broader Ratings Team communications strategy. It will require an understanding of UK regulatory requirements and cultural sensitivities, the ability to navigate competing global and local priorities, and the ability to speak effectively about how we develop and apply maturity ratings to content on service.
This is a highly cross-functional role. You will work closely with Public Policy, Consumer Insights, Legal, and Communications Teams in London and Amsterdam to improve and, at times, defend our ratings structure. You will also work with members of our global Product organization, such as Operations, Globalization, and Product Creative Studio to execute on our overall maturity ratings strategy.
This role will dual report into the Director of Ratings and Partnerships (Los Angeles, CA) and the Product Metadata and Ratings EMEA Regional Lead (Amsterdam, Netherlands).
Key Responsibilities
• Manage the Ratings & Partnerships relationship with the BBFC and support the development and execution of the ratings strategy in the United Kingdom.
• Collaborate with local and regional Public Policy teams. Manage ongoing board engagements in EMEA and initiatives to improve our ratings programs in the region
• Analyze global ratings board title audits and member feedback and draft proposals to XFN partners on how to improve ratings based on the analysis
• Lead the global partnerships strategy for ratings on product, including ratings display
• Lead research initiatives in support of Netflix's global ratings strategy
• Support the development and implementation of the global Ratings Team communications strategy
• Serve as the global Ratings POC on sensitive promotional asset review
• Educate internal and external partners on the Netflix ratings framework
Qualifications
• 7+ years in relevant fields, such as Policy Compliance, Standards and Practices, Communications, Crisis Response, Trust & Safety
• Experience working with regulators in the UK and EMEA more broadly
• Extensive experience in highly cross-functional roles gaining buy-in, alignment, and context from a variety of stakeholders across different markets and regions.
• Strong verbal and written communicator and adept at presenting to external stakeholders
• Great judgment and decisiveness when dealing with timely, deadline-driven, content-related issues and concerns
• Excellent project, program, and stakeholder management skills with a proven track record for operational excellence and relationship building
• Strategic thinking, able to identify potential issues and propose solutions
• Experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders
• Critical thinking/problem solving skills and an aptitude for analyzing trends in data
• Knowledge of, and adherence to, global ratings boards' standards for both movies
• Proficiency in communication design of presentations, slides, internal documentation
• Experience working with the Google Suite and AirTable
