Our product offering is expanding, with new plans such as an Ads Tier and new content categories such as Games. Our messaging and notifications are the main way we speak to consumers, to inform and build excitement for our changing business. Personalization ensures that we provide our consumers with timely, informative, and delightful messages that keep them engaging with our service, finding the right user experiences, and asking for more of our messages. Machine learning is essential to running our messaging program.

We are looking for a Product manager to transform our messaging program from one that primarily acts as an extension of our on-service recommendation engine to a platform that can serve the many needs of our diversifying product offering.

What You Will Do:
• You will build and own the systems that decide which members get which messages and notifications at which point in time.
• You will leverage and advance Netflix's deep expertise in machine learning and causal inference to build intelligent systems that adapt to our consumers.
• You will marry building data-driven products with practical decision-making; establishing frameworks, rules, and prioritization for new messaging experiences so that we can run the business.
• You will also have a wide-ranging purview to consider how algorithms and machine learning can improve other parts of the consumer journey like the signup experience.
• Leveraging available data, you will craft and communicate a strategic roadmap and see to its execution leading cross-functional teams of the industry's best data scientists, machine learning and software engineers.
• You will partner closely with our Messaging Ecosystem Product Manager to build the next-generation messaging platform for Netflix. You will also be a key contact for the multiple lines of business that are hoping to leverage the platform, understanding their requirements and communicating the platform's capabilities.
• As a high-leverage thought leader, you will have the ability to shape our thinking on how to evolve our product and have a massive impact on how members enjoy our service.

Who will be successful in this role?
• You combine a deep technical background in e.g. statistics, econometrics, or machine learning with a strong product sense and excellent communication skills to define, explain and execute your vision.
• You naturally gravitate towards experimentation as a way to validate your hypotheses while having a healthy skepticism when interpreting experimental results.
• You are able to work with world-class engineers, have the statistical acumen to collaborate with top-notch data scientists, the communication skills to translate the implications of that work to less technical partners, and the business sense to drive product.
• You have the willingness to dive into all parts of the problem space and not limit yourself to problems that can be solved with advanced methodologies.
• You build partnerships with other product managers, both working in your space and leveraging your product platform.
• You've demonstrated the ability to build successful consumer-facing applications and algorithms, and experiences with notification and messaging are a big plus.

Skills
• Experience managing consumer products leveraging machine learning (e.g. recommendation systems, messaging) with a proven record of prioritizing and successfully launching impactful products or platforms.
• Demonstrated leadership experience working effectively with data scientists, machine learning engineers, statisticians, etc.
• Proven ability to map algorithmic solutions to product problems with demonstrated impact on business metrics through AB testing.
• Excellent written communication skills and ability to present technical content to non-technical audiences. Ability to partner with different functions to ensure that your solutions drive real business impact.
• Strategic thinking and ability to incorporate larger business context into algorithm and product development.
• Postgraduate education (MS or PhD) in an applied quantitative field is strongly preferred, such as: Machine Learning, Statistics, Operations research, Information theory, Control theory, Econometrics, etc.
