We are seeking a Manager, Tax Operations, to join our collaborative and growing Tax Team. You will report into the Senior Manager of Tax Operations and will be responsible for the Tax Provision, Tax Compliance, and other areas of Income Tax. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader who can collaborate across the business, has a hands-on mentality, and a desire to jump right in and make a difference. This role is based in Los Gatos and is not flexible to be based in other locations. The expectation is to come into the office 2 days a week.

Responsibilities
• Lead a team of 5-6 tax professionals in Los Gatos.
• Oversee preparation and review of quarterly and annual provision calculations.
• Oversee preparation and review of US and state income tax returns, estimates, extensions.
• Oversee preparation and review of complex consolidated federal and state income tax returns (Subchapter C).
• Oversee preparation and review of book to tax differences with documentation of underlying accounting methods.
• Oversee preparation and review of quarterly state estimate and extension calculations and payments.
• Train and mentor staff including review and evaluation of their work as well as assistance in staff development.
• Research enacted and proposed legislation and prepare research memoranda, written correspondence/guidance, and other documents as necessary to support conclusions.
• Coordinate with other tax department team members on IRS examination information requests.
• Provide internal tax advisory services and assist in tax planning projects.
• Participate and lead in the implementation of tax compliance process improvement initiatives.
• Oversee components of the IRS & state income tax audits.
• Research complex federal tax issues and prepare technical documentation.
• Support tax systems, accounting, and tax planning team on US tax computations (some items include R&D credit, BEAT, FDII, and GILTI).
• Continue to develop a system/approach to ensure the accuracy and completeness of work papers for all tax return positions.

Qualifications
• You embrace and advocate the Netflix culture and our long-term view.
• 10-12 years combined public accounting and/or corporate experience with emphasis on compliance (technology or entertainment industry experience is a plus).
• Experience in identifying, analyzing, and communicating complex federal income tax issues, tax accounting issues, and related implications on the Company.
• Advanced knowledge of the fundamentals of accounting based on US GAAP, consolidated tax return regulations, and multi-state tax law.
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills coupled with the ability to use these skills to make quality decisions in a timely manner.
• Strong communication skills and proven ability to develop professional relationships with internal and external parties.
• Experience with tax provision and compliance software such as OneSource tax.
• Advanced computer software skills, including MS Office, particularly Excel and Alteryx, as well as accounting packages (Workday).
• Experience in identifying tax process automation opportunities and providing technology solutions.
• Ability to quickly understand and integrate business objectives with tax strategies, and effectively communicate tax requirements to tax and non-tax teams.
• Ability to work proactively and independently under tight time frames in a fast-paced environment.
• Growth mindset with the ability to learn, change and adapt quickly.

The overall market range for roles in this area of Netflix is typically $165,000 - $470,000.
