We are seeking a Studio Manager to join our Studio Management & Services team to oversee and manage all production activity and operations at our Tres Cantos studio. The Studio Manager will oversee the operation of the studio which encompasses 10 purpose-built stages and support space across 15 acres and over 320,000 sq ft.

THE CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate will be experienced, passionate, seasoned, and self-motivated in relation to all aspects of production support and operational activity. This demanding and fast-paced position requires a positive and proactive attitude, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to lead day-to-day operations and deliver a diverse workload within a challenging environment.

A background in Studio Management and Media & Entertainment with strong people management skills and an understanding of our industry's workflows and best practices is essential and required for this role.

THE ROLE

The role is responsible for providing superior day-to-day operational management for the Master Lease Agreement (MLA) in Spain as well as managing any capital expenditure projects. The Studio Manager will deliver an unrivalled experience to our production and creative teams through the delivery of service and operational excellence. The role is also responsible for holding our Landlord accountable under the terms and conditions of the lease agreement as well as any statutory compliance responsibilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Day-to-day management of the studio including all facility operations and services, relationships with local stakeholders, and all necessary operational and capital improvements.
• Provide strategic input into the wider Studio Management & Services business plan.

Production activities
• Manage production support from inception to completion, inclusive of onboarding, communication, and ownership of overall production experience.
• Liaise with productions to ensure all their operational needs are met.
• Monitor productions' activities to ensure they comply with the Studio Production Handbook.
• Own on-site logistics for all production activity with regard to vehicle and unit base movements, entry systems, and temporary support throughout our studio portfolio.
• Communicate and report on key initiatives, production activity and focus to cross-functional partners, peers, and Leadership.
Operations
• Manage the activities of the Landlord to ensure that the studio, each building, and the landscape are fit for purpose both operationally and within the guidelines provided by the local regulations. Communicate and coordinate project timelines to interested/impacted stakeholders (both internal and external).
• Provide long-term capacity planning and workflow requirements for all operational needs.
• Accountable for all operational vendor management, procurement, and delivery with regard to soft services.
• Utilise and expand our internal workflows through innovation to enhance productivity and streamline our operational output.
• Plan for, prepare and implement operational changes as they arise.
• Source environmentally sustainable design solutions as required.
• Action / resolve problems or complaints as they arise when related to the studio facility operation or otherwise, always acting in the best interest of Netflix.

Health and Safety
• Promote health and safety, best practices, and lead by example where safety management is concerned.
• Ensure that all studio hazards associated with the work environment are identified; risks assessed and appropriate controls are implemented to prevent accidents and incidents.
• Work in collaboration with our cross-functional partners to uphold a safe and secure studio environment.
• Act as a site emergency Warden and assist with the coordination of emergency services, ensuring timely response to all emergency situations.

Financial
• Analyse and make recommendations on budgeting and expenditure trends.
• Provide input into the development and review of the studio's operational and capital budget.
• Accountable for all operational finances, cost model, and budget inclusive of tracking and trend analysis essential for economies of scale and value for money.
• Use trend analysis and collected data to drive efficiencies within our operating cost model.
• Management of utility billing and the negotiation of rates in line with energy consultant guidance.

Relationship Management
• Develop strong relationships with local and international producers and key stakeholders within the industry.
• Local Authority liaison and relations - Emergency Services, Local Councils, Planning teams, etc.

Maintenance
• Maintain asset registers and ensure that all property and asset maintenance (owned and installed by Netflix) is scheduled and completed, working closely with Netflix cross-functional teams where necessary.
• Project manage or assist with project managing facility works in terms of site upgrades, reactive or preventative maintenance needs either landlord or Netflix initiated.

Team and training
• Responsible for assuring the quality of own work and supervising work of direct reports as/when required.
• Participate in and prepare materials for training, education, and team building activities and feedback reviews to improve the level and quality of service to the overall Netflix experience.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• Minimum 10 years of practical experience within a Studio Facility / Media & Entertainment environment.
• Previous experience managing a multifunctional team.
• Ability to coordinate multiple productions simultaneously within a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to take a solutions-driven approach.
• Proven management and leadership skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Fluent in Spanish and English both written and verbal.
• Flexible with excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Decision maker and one that thinks outside of the box.
• Extensive knowledge of contract compliance.
• Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
• Willingness to continue learning to ensure understanding of current Production processes, workflows, and Studio facilities.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety and knowledge of how this applies within a Studio environment.
• Proficiency in Google Docs, Sheets, Gmail, MS Word, and MS Excel is preferred.
