Netflix is looking for an experienced publicity manager to lead and work in partnership on campaigns for a variety of scripted TV shows including drama, YA and 4-quad titles with big fandoms. The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about entertainment and publicity, understands different audiences and how they consume entertainment news, has a proven track record executing campaigns for high-profile titles, and has exceptional facility managing showrunner and talent relations. The ideal candidate is strategy and goal-driven, can conceptualize and execute creative ideas that infuse social reach, and measures success by impact over volume.

The Role

The Manager, Series Publicity will play a key role in strategizing, executing and managing publicity campaigns for a variety of scripted series. They are a member of a seasoned group of professionals based in the Los Angeles office.

The Manager will be skilled at making use of multiple earned media channels, including broadcast, print, online and new media. They will play a critical role in communicating with executive producers, talent and production company partners during production up to and beyond launch. They will focus on creating cultural moments and innovative high impact campaigns, explore new tactics of promoting series, and will be able to communicate different facets of their campaigns to executives, producers, talent and talent representatives. This person will pitch media, innovate, and secure press opportunities, and cover set visits or help plan and execute junkets. A strong business acumen and experience working at a global company is a plus. This person has also worked alongside agencies, or has managed agencies on projects. The manager will also help coordinate requests and initiatives from international territories and will help prioritize what is important and vital to accomplish. They can formulate and manage a budget, and give visibility into their work successfully. This person will also be involved in the awards campaign, strategy and submission process for their shows.

The ideal candidate is able to make wise decisions, even when faced with ambiguity and thinks strategically. They don't fall back on PR 101 tactics and is eager to put a new spin on what a campaign can be. They can articulate what they are - and are not - trying to do. They have good listening skills and are able to multitask and work at a fast pace with a high-volume workload. They are not afraid to get their hands dirty - and that could mean jumping in to handle tasks that range from writing a strategy, writing a series announcement, booking travel or negotiating hair and make-up. They collaborate well with partners that range from content/programming to marketing to social to product and beyond. Strong candidates can handle a vast amount of work and they are eager to learn. They are curious and also contribute effectively outside of their speciality. They aren't timid about assessing their work when they are done to explore what they could have done differently or better. A good fit in the role has a candid and direct communication style. They are willing to admit to mistakes quickly and question values inconsistent with our values and Netflix culture. They understand that sometimes the job requires delivering bad news, and they're tactful in handling such issues.

Qualifications

The successful candidate for Manager, Series Publicity will have 8+years of entertainment experience in an agency, studio, network or journalism setting. They have relationships with key media as well as the ability to build and maintain connections with key journalists and social media influencers.

Netflix offers an attractive compensation package consisting of base salary, stock options, 401K (with match), comprehensive benefits and relocation.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

The Manager, Series Publicity is an individual contributor and reports to the Director, Original Series Publicity, who oversees a pod/team of publicists working on scripted TV shows. The Manager would have coordinator support on their campaigns.
