Job Description

Within just the past several years, Netflix has evolved from being the leading DVD-in-the-mail company in the US to being the leading US streaming platform to being the leading global streaming platform (with over 200 million members worldwide). The company is now in the midst of another growth phase: becoming a truly global entertainment studio. This effort involves developing the best content from all over the world, ensuring that it is visually, auditorily, and technically stunning, and making it accessible to local audiences. The Asia-Pacific region is of critical importance in achieving this goal.

To sustain our ambitious content efforts and build a truly global studio, we will need to continue to innovate, refine, and expand our internal strategies and external relationships in the ''studio operations'' space, which encompasses visual effects (VFX), post-production, dubbing, studio infrastructure, virtual production, and physical production. To support these efforts in Asia-Pacific, we are seeking an experienced legal professional to be our Director, Business & Legal Affairs, Studio Operations & Partnerships APAC. The role will report into the head of the Studio Operations & Partnerships Business & Legal Affairs team, who is located in Los Angeles, and will involve daily interaction with senior business executives and their teams across the APAC region, as well as regular communication with US-based teammates.

Requirements:

have at least 12 years of legal experience, with expertise in commercial law, transactional law, and contracts law;have significant experience with either (a) filmed entertainment production or (b) supply-chain, vendor management, sourcing, and/or procurement functions;have experience and be comfortable working with and advising senior-level business executives;have strong APAC regional knowledge, including substantial experience with at least one of (and preferably more than one of) the following countries: Japan, Korea, India;be familiar and comfortable with international business and cultures, and be able to adapt one's approach depending on the particular cultural context; know how to navigate within a multinational company; possess outstanding contract drafting and negotiating skills; have strong organizational and project management skills, allowing many projects to keep moving simultaneously; be equally comfortable engaging with large third-party companies that have established ways of working and with smaller partners that may lack certain business experience; be based in (or be willing to relocate to) Tokyo, Seoul, Mumbai, or Singapore;ideally be multilingual (English + one or more Asian languages, preferably Japanese or Korean).
