Job Description

We are looking for an experienced, talented and passionate counsel to join our Legal team to be based in Tokyo, Japan. As part of the Japan Legal team, you will help define the Netflix brand and shape the future of entertainment across the region.

The Japan Legal team collaborates with internal and external business partners to support various functions of our business such as business development, content production and marketing. The successful candidate's responsibilities will include supporting business partners on legal matters such as the following: drafting and negotiating various commercial agreements, advising on rights management, creative advisory (i.e. advising on creative concepts, copy and activations), handling regulatory matters, and conducting internal training/workshops and creating precedents/toolkits to help increase efficiency and legal IQ.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will have 5-10 years of corporate legal experience. E-commerce and/or IT-industry experience is preferred. In-house experience is also preferred. Additional experience in entertainment and/or media is a plus (but not a requirement).

Expertise drafting and negotiating agreements in one or more of the following areas: licensing agreements, joint-venture agreements, entertainment production agreements, procurement agreements, partner co-promotions, marketing agreements, and/or real-estate lease agreements.

Required: Strong English and Japanese language skills (drafting and speaking). Must be excited to be part of a dynamic culture that highly emphasizes transparency and a willingness to be open and vulnerable.
