Position Overview

The Entertainment Live Events team is responsible for building and growing live event franchises across the NBCU portfolio inclusive of broadcast and cable TV networks (NBC, Bravo, E!, USA), the Peacock streaming service and related digital and social platforms. The team leads and oversees all aspects of development, production, and content creation for live televised and live-streamed events including major award shows, red carpet pre-shows, fashion and music events, movie premieres, holiday programs, and more. The team is also focused on conceiving and developing new live event programming.

The VP Content Development is a leadership role responsible for guiding all creative aspects of current live event television productions and associated digital and social video content. They will also be tasked with sourcing and developing new live event programming across the NBCU portfolio.

This seasoned executive will oversee and collaborate closely with EPs, showrunners, producers, writers and other internal and external stakeholders with a particular focus on fostering innovation and evolution of live event programming. They are immersed in the worlds of celebrity and pop culture, have a strong and sophisticated creative vision, and are intuitively aware of what will resonate with a broad range of audiences. They will be expected to stay ahead of competitive trends and bring premium, brand-aligned content ideas and event concepts to life.

An understanding of social video and livestreaming as well as solid knowledge of the evolving world of AVOD & SVOD platforms is required.

Responsibilities
• For each live event assigned, guide creative vision across TV, streaming and social platforms from concept though execution
• Inspire and cultivate ideas to bring stand-out live events and surrounding programs to life
• Write clear and thorough creative briefs for production teams and collaborate to ensure all content meets set objectives
• Provide actionable notes and feedback to creators at each stage of development and production
• Build strong talent relationships and identify opportunities to grow and develop new talent
• Leverage industry contacts to source and acquire new, exclusive and premium live event programming
• Thoughtfully assess creative viability of new live events and craft narrative to guide the greenlight process
• Work with creative partners at social platforms – eg. Twitter, TikTok, Meta– to develop unique, innovative and immersive live event content
• Own multi-platform content plan and oversee development and delivery of all creative elements
• Collaborate with Creative Partnerships and Ad Sales to develop organically creative advertiser integrations and build repeatable social/streaming content franchises
• Provide input as needed on marketing and press plans and materials
• Share creative presentations with top executives and decision makers
• Identify and hire top tier creative freelance staff as needed

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
• 8+ years professional experience in developing and/or producing culturally connected content
• Prior experience in creative executive capacity for a broadcast/cable network, streaming service, production company or similar
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent
• Ability to travel

Desired Qualifications
• Proven leader with track record of successful creative projects in entertainment/live events where immersive viewer experiences are integral
• Demonstrated understanding of the dynamic nature of live audiences and how best to engage with them across multiple platforms
• Deep knowledge of and connection to celebrity and pop culture with keen eye for both established and emerging talent
• Established relationships with industry agents, producers and content creators
• Experience overseeing the pitch process for a production company and/or network
• Strong story-telling and editorial skills with experience giving notes to producers and writers
• Expert level skills in building and presenting creative decks and pitch materials
• Highly collaborative with ability to champion ideas/projects and influence outcomes at all levels of the organization
• Creative innovator and risk taker, entrepreneurial mindset, adaptable and nimble
• Positive, proactive and able to consistently exercise great judgment
