Job Description
Responsibilities

Working alongside the Executive Vice President, Global Communications + Media Relations, the Senior Vice President, Global Communications will support overall strategic communications and media relations efforts for Universal Filmed Entertainment Group (UFEG), collaborating with all divisions across the portfolio, including production/development, acquisitions, marketing, distribution, home entertainment, franchise management, and film labels such as Focus Features, DreamWorks Animation.

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:
• Provide strategic counsel to EVP, Communications, and senior UFEG leadership on business priorities, social and reputational issues, competitive intelligence, and evolving trends.
• Work with the EVP to establish executives as major thought leaders, both in entertainment and across the overall business, social and political ecosystem, focusing on inclusion in major events, speaking opportunities, boards, committees, and other relevant opportunities.
• Challenge teammates through innovative solutions, stories, and pitches to ensure we have the best-in-class corporate communications team.
• Partner with internal communications leadership to highlight company initiatives and amplify employee engagement opportunities across the portfolio.
• Address proactive and reactive issues management and mobilize quickly to act, as required. Develop strategic and meaningful responses to incoming media inquiries in a timely fashion.
• Develop, recommend, and implement thoughtful strategy to build executive profiles internally and externally.
• Draft written communication materials, including fact sheets, presentations, scripting for Town Halls and speaking engagements.
• Travel and staff events as designated by EVP.
• Help develop the communications team through feedback, trust, and coaching, as well as Influence the development of a strong communications team culture.
• Lead by example, including championing health and wellness and elevating diversity, equality, and inclusion.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum 12 years of communications experience in the media and entertainment field
• Bachelor's degree required; business, communications or journalism discipline preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other applications.
• Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA

Desired Characteristics:
• Feature film communications experience at a studio, production company, talent agency, or communications/PR firm is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and develop a high-caliber communications team.
• Proven ability to establish effective and long-lasting relationships at all levels.
• Proven, exceptional writing skills
• Demonstrated proficiency in social media platforms.
• Clearly established relationships with a wide variety of reporters and editors in the trade and entertainment press.
• Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and collaborate with senior executives, creative partners, thought leaders, and peers across a highly matrixed, fast-paced, innovative, and highly energetic corporate culture.
• Highly organized and proven ability to manage/prioritize multiple projects.
• Graduate degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field is preferred
