Responsibilities
Job Purpose:
The Sr. Manager, Revenue & Technical Accounting is responsible for the financial and technical aspects of Universal Studio Group's (USG) revenue cycle including contract review, technical interpretation, financial analysis and reporting. This role will be key in assuring the accuracy and completeness of stated revenue and receivables. The Sr. Manager will be the primary lead on performing complex financial analysis of contracts, writing technical memos and liaising with production finance to stay current on production costs and timing which directly impacts revenue.
This role will also be responsible for enuring the revenue process is SOX compliant by performing key controls and maintaining relevant documentation.

In addition, the Sr. Manager will be instrumental to overall technical accounting matters involving the Group's financials, as well as a key asset to producing robust monthly financials.

This role will report directly to the VP & Assistant Controller and will work closely with the Sr. Manager Revenue & Contracts; Accounting Director, FP&A; Production Finance, Production Audit; key customers and Sr. Executives

Essential Responsibilities

Revenue & Receivables:
• Review and interpret content production contracts and production budgets to determine associated revenue
• Consult with Production Finance and FP&A on budget and cost report, as needed
• Prepare revenue assurance and ASC 606 templates for all applicable contracts
• Prepare technical memo concluding on ASC 606 implications of applicable contracts
• Perform revenue assurance function within the revenue system
• Review non-contract revenue weekly through billing tracker and sub-ledger reports
• Perform monthly review of revenue by production to ensure completeness and accuracy prior to month end close
• Perform monthly review and analysis of receivables, deferred revenue and revenue from a holistic financial statement view
• Assess collectability of receivables monthly based on analysis and review in partnership with the Sr. Manager Revenue & Contracts and Sr. Director of Audit
• Review I/C revenue in partnership with the Accounting Director

Technical & General Accounting
• Work with Corporate Controllership teams to gather information necessary to address new GAAP accounting standard requirements and implementations
• Research and provide technical accounting assessments and opinions that impact USG's financial statements
• Work closely with the Assistant Controller on issues impacting financial statement, footnote presentations and disclosures
• Support the business with technical accounting research, peer comparison analysis, acquisitions/divestitures & due diligence activities
• Perform ad hoc reporting and special projects as requested

Compliance & Process Improvement
• Facilitate, participate in and support both internal and external audits; actively engage with auditors on identifying areas of improvement and providing best practice recommendations
• Monitor key internal controls over revenue financial reporting to ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley
• Develop a solid understanding of the subledgers impacting revenue and costs and ensure controls are maintained

Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• Big 4 accounting firm and/or CPA
• Minimum of 8 years relevant accounting experience
• Knowledge of general accounting practices and financial accounting standards, specifically ASC 920, 926 and 606 preferred
• Microsoft Office Suite skills are essential; including Excel skills with knowledge of formulas, pivot tables and v-lookup
