Job Description

Responsibilities

The Sr. Contract Specialist, Business & Legal Affairs is responsible for global legal clearance, and other related services related to the manufacture, marketing, and distribution of NBC Universal's motion pictures and television titles on home entertainment media. This position is in the Universal Pictures Home Entertainment division, Business and Legal Affairs, Rights and Clearances.

Responsibilities include:
• Research and review talent and above the line crew agreements to determine likeness and credit rights, approvals, consultations and/or restrictions per the personal services or guild agreements.
• Review and approve all marketing materials for New Release, Catalog, TV on DVD, Acquisitions/Partners and Non-Theatrical titles, worldwide, including DVD/Blu-ray/4k packaging, menus, trailers, TV spots, websites, EPK kits, promotional tie-ins, and print materials included inside packaging.
• Review and approve clips and ''demo discs'' for promotional use in the Home Entertainment window, including trade shows, and draft clip licenses for these uses.
• Review and approve co-promotional and sweepstakes print and online marketing materials to ensure all legal requirements are met.
• Serve as point person between studio and talent representatives for name and likeness approval requests.
• Field any legal questions and approval requests from the Creative, Marketing, and Digital Home Entertainment groups as needed.
• Home Entertainment Distribution Rights research for titles, and other research, as needed.
• Manage Term Tracking expirations
• Trademark and copyright research for Non-Theatrical film titles, DVD chapter titles, retail exclusive gift-with-purchases, and social media marketing. Consult with in-house and/or outside film, trademark, and copyright counsel when necessary.

Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
• At least 3 years of experience in business affairs or legal affairs in entertainment, consumer packaged goods, consumer products licensing or at a creative marketing agency
• Strong research skills
Excellent computer skills (including Microsoft Word, internet sources, and ability to master many NBCU applications)
• Experience with agreements and legal issues
• Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA

• Paralegal preferred

• Excellent written and verbal communications skills, as well as solid interpersonal skills
• Demonstrate an ability to be flexible in a rapidly changing global business environment.
• Detail oriented and well organized
• Good judgment and ability to work independently with all levels of company personnel and with outside parties.
