Job Description
Responsibilities

The Senior Accountant will be part of the Universal Studio Group's (USG) accounting team responsible for the operational accounting of the business. This role helps the team perform accounting functions such as monthly close, journal entries, account reconciliations and analysis. They will also be responsible for assisting with hoc reporting and finance projects as needed. The Senior Accountant will report to the Accounting Director.

Responsibilities:

Participations and Residuals
• Gain a basic understanding of participations and residuals as it relates to TV productions
• Review key co-production deal terms and understand active vs. passive co-productions in order to properly analyze liabilities balance
• Understand key controls and financial risks associated with participations and residuals; review and provide input on SOX process flow, as needed
• Calculate and record monthly accrual for library titles, working closely with the FP&A and Financial Contracts Administration teams
• Review and interpret participation statements from co-production studios
• Prepare all required monthly/quarterly journal entries and account reconciliations
• Perform detailed monthly participations and residuals analysis including a by title rollforward
• Prepare quarterly reporting deliverables for management and corporate
• Assist with cash application research

Lease Accounting
• Manage and maintain lease subledger, including creating new leases and updating current leases for modifications
• Prepare monthly Right-of-use asset adjustment journal entries

Accounts Payable
• Perform day to day accounts payable duties for USG Controllership including invoice processing, vendor set up, ensure timeliness and completion of approval workflow
• Assist with AP system (SNAP) troubleshooting, including vendor maintenance, as a SNAP Superuser

General Accounting & Reporting
• Prepare other recurring and ad hoc journal entries
• Perform research on transactions or inquiries, as needed
• Prepare all required account reconciliations with detailed support; follow through with any necessary required adjustment journal entries
• Prepare required quarterly deliverables (data requests, tie outs, analysis, etc.) to corporate and assist with preparation of financial reporting packages
• Support external and internal audit requests
• Understand other areas such as Intracompany billing transactions in order to backfill tasks, as needed
• Identify and participate in process improvement initiatives and opportunities to build efficiencies into existing processes and reporting routines; this includes documenting processes
• Perform ad hoc reporting (including report design) and special projects, as requested
• Maintain key support on shared drive including but not limited to cash remittances, participation statements, co-production coding, etc.

Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related area
• Minimum of 2 years accounting experience
• Strong computer and Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio and PowerPoint skills are essential; including intermediate or advanced Excel skills with knowledge of formulas, pivot tables and v-lookup
• Displays the ability to pay close attention to detail
• The ability to multitask, as well as plan, organize, and prioritize work to meet tight deadlines
• Have strong knowledge of general accounting practices and financial accounting standards
• Willingness to work overtime and weekends with short notice
