Job Description
Role Purpose
The Manager, Intellectual Property resides within the IP Analysis & Insights Group (''Group''), which is responsible for advising NBCUniversal divisions worldwide regarding rights, and other intellectual property issues that arise across all phases of its business.
Job Duties
• Oversee a legal function that receives, triages, analyzes, assigns, and consistently monitors the status of hundreds of requests, per month, from NBCUniversal divisions seeking intellectual property advice
• Communicate effectively with legal, business, and creative professionals in various NBCUniversal divisions, while maintaining a strict degree of confidentiality, judgment, discretion, and professionalism
• Assess each legal inquiry thoroughly upon receipt, and, as necessary, discuss such requests directly with the respective NBCUniversal division to determine scope and urgency in order assign to the appropriate attorney or legal analyst in the Group
• Identify, curate, and circulate all relevant agreements, rights summaries, and other internal documents to the attorney and legal analyst in the Group when assigning requests
• Perform legal research and analysis on incoming requests, both individually and in tandem with, or under the supervision of, the Group's attorneys and legal analysts to facilitate accurate and comprehensive responses
• Maintain an efficient triage system to determine best practices for categorizing assignments and managing legal analyst and attorney workloads across the Group's function
• Ensure all request and response information and documentation is promptly saved, accurately tracked, and efficiently organized within the Group's proprietary systems and databases
• Scrutinize and conduct presentations on the Group's data and metrics, including organizing and leading assignment management meetings to brief members of the Group on request statuses and prioritization within the assignment queue
• Manage and optimize the Group's vast tangible and digital resources, including the assignment management tracker, document management system, hard copy files, and more
• Work closely with the Group and its internal partners on system development related to data transfer, search functionality, and reporting capabilities, which includes coordinating directly with NBCUniversal's IT and Legal Operations teams to resolve production defects and implement enhancements across the Group's digital resources
• Conduct trainings for new employees of the Group and NBCUniversal divisions regarding system navigation, use of internal resources, and adherence to policies and procedures that facilitate efficient completion of assignments and collaboration throughout the Company
Qualifications
Basic Requirements
• B.A., B.S., and/or higher degree
• Extensive experience with Microsoft Office Suite
• Minimum 5 years related working experience in a comparable professional role
Desired Characteristics
• Outstanding academic credentials
• Legal background (paralegal certificate or comparable work experience)
• Management experience with oversight of people and/or a function
• Experience in computer programming, data analysis, and database design/architecture, as well as liaising with developers and systems architects on the foregoing
• Excellent technological literacy (especially Microsoft Excel and its various features), with the ability to quickly master new applications and manage digital databases
• Familiarity with the entertainment business and knowledge of entertainment contracts
• Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally in both written and oral contexts
• Superior organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a responsible, thorough manner
• Proven interpersonal skills as a team player, demonstrating creative problem-solving skills and a willingness to take initiative
• Capability to multitask, handle changing priorities, juggle many projects, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment

• Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
• This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week
• This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
