Responsibilities
This role reports to the Senior Vice President, NBCU Corporate Events.
• Research, develop, manage and execute smaller special events for all NBCU day parts. Responsible for all aspects of event from start to finish, including budget management.
• Coordinating all program elements leading up to and onsite including accommodations, entertainment venues, activities, transportation, F&B, etc.
• Responsible and accountable for event budgets and reconciliation.
• Interact directly with marketing and sales to gain working knowledge of their needs and their clients' needs in order to create event based programs.
• Provide support to senior members of the team on day to day projects as well as larger events.
• Manage guest invitation/communication process and travel procurement for each assigned event.
• Generate and research new event ideas and opportunities for the sales staff and advertising clients.
• Develop contacts and relationships with hotels etc. to secure best possible rates and opportunities for NBCU.
• Maintain working knowledge of happenings in the industry as well as up-to-date information on new hotels, restaurants and event venues, etc.
• Work with the in-house creative team as well as freelancers on creation and preparation of event collateral material.
• Work closely with Senior Director of Merchandise to develop ideas for creative and unique premium ideas for each event as well as on-going NBCU merchandise.
Qualifications/Requirements
Qualifications
• Minimum of five years of direct experience in event planning, preferably with some sports-related experience.
• Must be able/willing to travel at least 40% of the year
• Must be proficient in EXCEL and PowerPoint
General Skills
• Confident, mature, creative and organized team player with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Must be willing to work long hours and weekends.
• Must have excellent communication skills
