Job Description

NBCU Local is looking for an experienced Spanish-language digital managing editor to lead the evening content center team. The right candidate is a meticulous writer/editor and has experience managing people and coaching. This job entails working under pressure during breaking news situations without breaking a sweat. The Evening Managing Editor will manage an experienced staff augmenting the work of the 24 news departments in our local stations, as well as coach and help our local editors from those same stations.

Responsibilities:
• Work the evening shift (as well as some holidays)
• Supervise and mentor evening editorial staff.
• Lead evening editorial meetings.
• Manage content creation and editorial strategy in the evening.
• Maintain NBCU Local legal and standards practices as it relates to the content created.
• Create original articles, videos and slideshows; gather original content from all local TV station's newsrooms and curate a wide variety of stories from other sources, including blogs, newspapers, online publications and magazines.
• Maintain homepage carrousels and oversee the quality of main pages of the websites.
• Ensure the voice, tone and mix of content fits with the overall editorial strategy created by NBCU Local
• Collaborate in special projects such as features sections and sites' verticals.
• Work and maintain good relationships with local digital teams, as well as producers, and content experts at the local TV stations.
• Keep an updated directory of the local station's assignment desks and work to maintain good relationships and an open communication with them, to ensure local breaking evening news coverage.
• Take direction from the VP or Sr Director of Multiplatform Content to get the most effective content online and collaborate with content centers in other local markets to share stories and resources across all Telemundo and NBC's local websites.
• Our editors must be willing and flexible to adapt to changes to their job description and responsibilities, which should always be kept within the lines of editorial duties.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
• Experience as an editor, senior writer or senior producer at a major news organization or blog that creates content under tight deadlines.
• Must be a skilled writer with outstanding communication skills.
• Excellent Spanish-language writing and copy-editing skills
• Understanding of journalistic practices and guidelines
• Curiosity for content with initiative to suggest stories with relevance for all markets.
• Detail oriented.
• Must understand SEO practices.
• Must be fully bilingual (English and Spanish) for editorial purposes.
• Must be flexible to adapt to changing work schedules.
• Ability to travel to across the U.S
