Role Purpose
The Multicultural Marketing team is part of the marketing department of Universal Pictures. The team is responsible for engaging across all disciplines of film marketing to identify, refine, develop and integrate tactics and materials to enhance and enrich outreach to Latinx, Black and Asian American audiences. The position reports to the SVP, Multicultural Marketing with a dotted line to the EVP, Global Publicity.
The Director of Multicultural Publicity will play a leadership role on the multicultural marketing team and oversee the strategic development and provide hands-on support in, but not limited to: Latino, Black and Asian American film publicity, field, word-of-mouth outreach, grassroots events, digital publicity and social influencer/content creator executions. This includes management of external partners that assist in executing long lead and in-campaign television and digital outreach, talent appearances, junket and premiere exposure, major national efforts in Miami (Latino) and Atlanta (Black), screenings and local activations.
Exceptional communication skills at all management levels is crucial. On a daily basis, the individual in this position will be someone that can take initiative with minimal direction, have the ability to seek out information from various sources and have exceptional follow through.
Responsibilities
• Lead all multicultural publicity and promotions efforts as well as recommend innovative campaign solutions for Latino, Black and AAPI film audience across every Universal release
• Partner with other Multicultural Marketing discipline experts to influence all publicity campaigns as well as manage Manager, Multicultural Marketing
• Have a robust understanding and maintain communication and relationships with all key Latino, Black and AAPI publicity partners and media outlets
• Manage select Latino, Black and AAPI publicity agencies including hiring, sharing strategy and direction, maintaining constant communication on major executions and providing overall day-to-day direction.
• Work in partnership with Global Publicity and Field teams and act as subject matter expert to help create strategies to identify specific cultural nuances and touchpoints to lean-into authentically and organically.
• Effectively communicate, internally and externally, written and verbally, all multicultural publicity opportunities and status
• Cover set visits, PA tours, Miami/Atlanta press days, junkets, premieres, events, local activities, college activations, screenings, as needed
• Monitor and inform on new and upcoming actionable multicultural opportunities and trends
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications
• 8+ years of marketing experience
• 3+ years of experience in the entertainment industry, in theatrical publicity/marketing
• Strong experience in developing and executing multicultural (Latino, Black and/or Asian) marketing strategies
• Experience working with multiple departments, agencies, etc.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft-based software: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Strong organization and communication skills are required to interface effectively with internal and external parties.

• Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
• Must be willing to be covered by Solutions, NBCUniversal's alternative dispute resolution policy
• Must be 18 years or older

• A degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Communications or English is preferred
