Responsibilities
The Position
NBCUniversal's Advertising Platforms & Operations team is responsible for the product development, project management, and day-to-day operations of NBCUniversal's full advertising technology suite. The division services both internal and external customers in support of NBCUniversal's $8B annual advertising business.
The Platform Solutions team within Advertising Platforms & Operations is responsible for supporting NBCUniversal's day-to-day global advertising business by building, enhancing, and scaling internal products, as well as maintaining and streamlining operational workflows and leading master data management (MDM), with a particular focus on driving efficiencies through automation. We are currently seeking a Director, Global Product, to build out the product strategy and end-to-end architecture for our global pitch-to-pay (P2P) process.
Responsibilities:
In collaboration with Sales Management and Engineering, the person in this role will develop new tools and enhance existing ones to streamline the operational workflows in support of our Global Planning, Inventory, Account Services, Finance, and Sales Operations teams.
This includes:
• Leading product management, as well as managing a product and support team, for NBCU's global P2P process
• Leading the charge to understand the business requirements for global ''jobs to be done'' (i.e., liaising with Sales, Planning, Marketing, Research, and Finance leadership to build a strong understanding of global ad sales processes and pain points)
• Working closely with Strategy, Planning, and Operations to define use cases and execute on the strategy, goals, and processes for the global team
• Working closely with stakeholders and strategic partners to align global product strategy with NBCU's overall One Platform strategy, vision, and roadmap
• Partnering with Technical Product Management and Engineering on the global P2P development roadmap
• Playing a key role in requirements gathering, design, and development for global uses cases in our custom-built Universal Workspace
• Strategizing with executive sponsors to optimize application effectiveness and efficiency, with both long- and short-term goals in mind
• Communicating and documenting product requirements and expectations to development team and technical executives
• Communicating application enhancements, updates, and process changes to business users and support teams
• Conducting user acceptance testing, including demos to end users and support teams of current and future functionality
• Collaborating with support teams to ensure user needs/expectations are consistently met
• Working closely with Product Marketing and the Center of Excellence on training plans and materials
• Validating proposed enhancements with colleagues in Ad Platform & Operations supporting other products and initiatives
• Evaluating technologies to support enhancements and work with IT to implement changes
• Championing and providing functional support for all modifications to existing interfaces with other systems
• Overseeing and managing ad-hoc system requests
• Providing project management support, which at times means leading conversations with the end goal being to drive decisions
• Identifying and documenting project risks and multiple mitigation strategies to ensure successful product launches
• Demonstrating a proven ability to drive a senior-level stakeholder team to consensus
• Communicating product updates to the broader NBCU organization and/or key stakeholders
• Supporting the VP in overall product management of the larger ad product technology roadmap
Qualifications/Requirements
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of experience in product management, preferably in media or ad sales
• Expert user of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Proven skills with product development
• Proven skills with process documentation and system applications
• Experience working directly in media technology as it relates to display, video, mobile, audience, and inventory platforms
• Ability to work cross-functionally with a variety of partners and stakeholders, both technical and non-technical
• Attention to detail while reviewing project deliverables for completeness, quality, and compliance with established project requirements
• Ability to clearly and concisely articulate complex concepts for a variety of audiences, both technical and non-technical
• Demonstrated ability to overcome obstacles and negotiate resolutions to complex problems
• Ability to organize meetings, including creating pertinent agendas, managing conversations, and summarizing the results into a set of decisions made and next steps
• Extensive multi-tasking capabilities in a highly dynamic environment
• Great verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels in the organization
