Job Description
Role Purpose
As a leading media and entertainment company, NBCUniversal offers a broad suite of advertising products to its advertisers across linear, digital, and streaming, including targeted and addressable ads, shoppable ads, and innovative ad solutions with partners. NBCUniversal also has exclusive ad sales rights with respect to Olympics inventory and the Peacock streaming platform. This role will provide transactional support for the sales of all these products, as well as advisory and counselling services on any legal issues that may arise for the ad sales business day-to-day.


The candidate will work in the Advertising and Marketing Practice Group:
• Provide legal support to the NBCUniversal Advertising Sales television, digital and streaming teams
• Draft, review, and negotiate advertising terms and conditions with agencies and advertisers, including upfront sales agreements, insertion orders, amendments to IAB advertising terms (with special focus on data security, usage, and measurement), custom advertising, and sponsorship agreements
• Provide legal assistance relating to the development of new technologies and products involving shoppable advertising, including by negotiating and drafting agreements with tech vendors supporting NBCUniversal e-commerce initiatives
• Support the development, production and exploitation of advertising, marketing, and other sponsored content
• Review digital and linear advertising and marketing content for regulatory compliance, guild considerations, and intellectual property concerns
• Advise clients regarding contractual rights and duties, matters of contract interpretation and pre-litigation dispute resolution
• Negotiate and draft agreements with vendors, agencies, and consultants
• Provide guidance on issues relating to social media exploitation of advertising content, native advertising
• Counsel about risks associated with engaging in a variety of digital activities, data collection

Basic Qualifications
• Law degree and member of a state bar in good standing
• Minimum 5+ years of advertising, IP, entertainment,

corporate transactional or relevant litigation experience

at a law firm and/or corporate law department

• Experience working in a law firm or in-house legal department with digital advertising and/or working with new media platforms
• Familiarity with IAB Standard Terms and Conditions for Interactive Advertising
• Experience or strong interest in advertising, privacy, and/or IP law
• Significant experience in negotiating and drafting contracts and a variety of terms and conditions
• Capable of providing practical legal advice to members
of business team at all levels and working with legal teams across functions (employment, IP, compliance, etc.)
• Strong work ethic
• Good natured, team player
• Strong academic record from top tier law school
• Strong written and oral presentation skills
• Ability to multi-task successfully, and to work both independently and collegially as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
