Job Description
Responsibilities
The Associate Counsel will support all departments by negotiating, interpreting and drafting agreements where needed as well as developing processes and templates to ensure long-term efficiency of the legal function.

Key Responsibilities
• Assist in the development of commercial and non-commercial legal templates and ensure that they are accurately maintained
• Ensure internal teams are up to date with approval processes for agreements and documentation
• Implementing company compliance requirements as required
• Providing day-to-day interface with commercial teams as required to ensure clear communication and proactive management of open matters
• Attend internal and external meetings including business and regulatory updates
• Assist in the development of know how training and best practice for the legal team
• Assist in developing training for business teams to ensure a clear understanding of key contractual obligations and a secure approach to legal risk management within the business
• Draft and negotiate content license agreements and advise executives on marketing, promotion and rights-related questions
• Draft and negotiate affiliation agreements, content distribution agreements and related documentation
• Draft and negotiate service agreements, work-for-hire agreements, including but not limited to technology agreements and software development agreements
• Assist in the management of special projects for the division as needed
• Advise creative and original production teams with idea development, formats, contracts, releases and clearances

Qualifications/Requirements
Required Qualifications
• J.D. from accredited law school, demonstrated academic achievement and current bar membership in good standing.
• Minimum of 2 years combined television business affairs and legal affairs experience at a law firm and/or media company
• Language: Fluent in English & Spanish, Portuguese is a plus

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
• Must be willing to work in the greater Miami, Florida area
• Must be 18 years or older
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
• Must be willing to work late evenings, and occasional holidays or weekends per business need
• Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU's Alternative Dispute Resolution Program

Desired Characteristics
• Experience in Copyrights, business, or intellectual property would be a plus
• General understanding of telecommunication laws, as well as the culture of different markets
• Ability to cope with high volume workload under time pressure and to work independently and to a high professional standard
• Experience with drafting and negotiating software and television play-out contracts would be preferred
