Responsibilities

NBC4 Los Angeles is looking for an APC Operator to join our Production department.
• APC operators are responsible for preparing and executing the
operation
of the ROSS automated production control system (APC) for live and taped television broadcasts
• Build rundowns (automated or non-automated) for all broadcasts, productions etc.
• Operates Control Room Computer and Automation, which includes the creation and utilization
of templates to automate production functions including: technical directing, audio mixing, robotics
operations, commercial integration, live/remote segment cut-ins, video file playback, graphics insertion and switching
• Works in conjunction with editorial and production personnel to execute newscasts utilizing an automated production control system
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum
of 3 years experience using newsroom computer systems
• Minimum
of 3 years working with and knowledge
of television production equipment
• Previous automation system experience in a fast paced news environment
• Strong Computer Skills including a minimum 3 years
of experience with computer applications working and monitoring multiple screens and software applications simultaneously in a broadcast environment

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA
• This position is covered under a collective bargaining agreement between the Company and the National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians Union (NABET). Successful candidate will be required to join the NABET Union if not already a member and remain a member in good standing of that union
• Must be willing to work overtime, evenings, and on weekends with short notice
• Must be willing to submit to a background investigation
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States

Desired Characteristics:
Operation of Ross Overdrive system experience a plus
• Knowledge of DALET a plus
• Minimum 3 years experience directing and/or technical directing
• Minimum 1 year experience with Automated Production Control systems, Ross
Overdrive preferred
• Associates
or BA degree in Telecommunications
or related field
or currently enrolled in a college working toward a degree preferred
• Displays a positive work ethic and can work under tight deadlines
• High degree
of integrity and professionalism
• Up to date
on and interested in current news events
• Strong
organizational and multi-tasking skills
• Ability to work well and communicate effectively with others
• Ability to perform under pressure in breaking news and deadline driven situations
• Ability to react quickly and make decisions
• Ability to lead and direct
others
