Job Description

The Production/ Broadcast Engineer will report to the Sr. Director, Production Engineering. This person will provide front line broadcast engineering and technical support across several studios and control rooms.  The main duties of this position include supporting all broadcast systems and technology within the Stamford Sports facility for day of air live programs, troubleshooting of broadcast hardware and systems, complying with computer security policies as well as handling a project load which includes system design, integration, and system commissioning. This job entails a broad combination of Maintenance and Project Management/System Engineering. The support needs span 7 days a week and at many points in the year are part of a 24x7 schedule.

Responsibilities:
• Perform system level troubleshooting of technical facilities, including, but not limited to, control rooms, studio equipment, audio equipment, and computer systems associated with those areas.
• Perform preventative maintenance on studio & control room equipment.
• Assist Studio Operations with control room and studio technical setup.
• Collaborate with production and operations teams to implement technical solutions to meet production initiatives.
• Install and update equipment and systems software.
• Repair/troubleshoot equipment to module level utilizing industry standard test equipment.
• Manage projects, design systems, and assist integration.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
• 2+ years of experience in a television broadcast environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of computer server installation and maintenance.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows platforms.
• Proficient with broadcast production systems and software including audio consoles, intercom systems, video switchers, wireless audio, server-based playout and test and measurement equipment.
• Understanding of TCP/IP networks.
• Understanding of digital TV (HDSDI).
• Proficient in software-driven broadcast video equipment.
• Ability to read and understand system signal flow diagrams for television control room and studio facilities.
• Position requires excellent interpersonal skills. Position requires a cool, levelheaded individual who works well under the pressures of live television.
• Hands-on problem-solving skills with broadcast-related equipment and systems.
• Understanding of the urgent needs of on-air sports and the ability to stay focused and productive in a fast-paced environment with constantly changing assignments.
• Ability to support 24x7 production environment.

Desired Characteristics:
• Ability and willingness to learn new production technologies.
• Live production experience preferred.
• BS degree in Engineering, Communications, or other relevant field.
• Specific experience with Sony cameras and switchers, EVS Servers, Evertz and Grass Valley Routing, RTS Intercom, Calrec Audio Consoles, and Tektronix and Leader Test and measurement systems.
• Knowledge of SMPTE 2110
• Experience in System Design, AutoCad, Project Management.
• Understanding of wireless audio and communication technologies.
• Experience with 1080P and 4K HDR.
• Strong customer focus.
• Must be a self-starter who is able to meet deadlines.
• The ability to work both alone and in a team environment with fellow engineers, Operations, IT and other departments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication as well as diplomacy skills

• Willingness to work nights and weekends.
