Job Description
WPTZ/NBC5 seeks a self-motivated, detail oriented, organized, multi-tasking individual for Assistant Chief Engineer position. A successful applicant will be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills. You will help lead a team of technical professionals ranging from Master Control Operators to IT and Maintenance Technicians as you organize, plan, manage, document and complete assignments within our live broadcast environment. This includes oversight of the equipment itself and execution of both local and corporate-led systems deployments and upgrades. As Assistant Chief Engineer you will monitor multiple air channels, maintain regulatory compliance, and ensure quality control of on-air products. Good communication and organizational skills are necessary. You will report to the Director of Engineering.

Job Responsibilities
• Oversight of all studio and field equipment, the daily operation of the station and technical and operational staff.
• Guide engineering team.
• Oversight of IT integrity, security and infrastructure.
• Maintain transmitter, satellite antenna systems, signal distribution and routing systems.
• Assist with the execution of capital projects.
• Maintain relationships with local vendors.

Requirements
• 5 years of experience in Television Broadcast Operations/Maintenance.
• Working knowledge of IT systems, video servers, digital audio and video switching systems, personal computers, IT networking equipment, and electronic test equipment.
• Transmitter and satellite experience a plus.
• Experience working with and leading an engineering team.
• Exhibits working knowledge of television maintenance and FCC requirements and licensing.
• Must be available to work any assigned hours, and perform other duties as assigned.
• Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders and other physical activity associated with equipment installation.
• Experience operating, troubleshooting, and repairing electronic equipment for broadcast and production environments.
• Higher education in technology, SBE or related military experience will be considered.
• A valid driver's license is required, and the successful applicant must be insurable.
